Touche. I don't care for him but I honestly don't mind him all that much right now. LW is a void for us behind G.

I totally forgot about JVR tbh. If there is a taker this off-season I seriously consider it. I think we're going to be praying he's gone by the end of year 3 tbh.
- hereticpride

JVR is not a problem.Just Hextall version of MacDonald with wrong contract ( too much term and overpaid ).Also Bozak is struggling in STL after they played well in Toronto .
On weaker teams their shortcomings are expose d

That's the biggest issue I see with Farabee is staying in school which is another 3 years away. He will only be 21 though and could be the scorer the Flyers desperately need. Duchene scares me, everyone is focused on his contract year performance in Ottawa, but he could easily become the player he was tail end in Colorado.
- Glak18

True. I'm just thinking who of note could be available and worth obtaining. The thought of Duchene with G and Coots moving down the depth chart would be a big boost up front for us imo.

I'm just not sure what's going to happen with Farabee. If he intends on finishing school I really think they might shop him. I just don't see them being that patient.

I didn't mind the signing knowing he would be good depth for the team and another person to use on one of the PP units, but his lack of effort 98% of the time and inability to create offense when the team is struggling makes him completely worthless.

This is the only sport where one guy takes all the heat for everyone else. Thanks to that piece of cloth stitched his jersey I suppose.

Could you imagine people calling out leaders like Utley or Rollins because the rest of the team wasn't hitting? Or Cox or Jenkins because the corners can't make a stop? It really is absurd. Better get on Emiid because Fultz can't hit a shot.

- hereticpride

Do you know what Chase Utley would do if he saw a player dogging it? Chase Utley was a great player and he never dogged it himself. Which is why he could get on any player. Giroux deserves a ton of credit for a lot of things and is a great player but he himself can improve in a number of areas. He has been guilty far too many times of not back checking hard. He made the poor line change that led to the Gaudreau goal. He's not the only one but he is the leader of this team and he can't set that example.

Scouts in the house for Blues-Flyers tonight: Wild, Maple Leafs, Predators, Capitals, Bruins, Sabres, Blues, Islanders, Red Wings

Would be a good night for the Wayne Train to get rolling tonight. I'd assume the Leafs, Preds, Sabres and Bruins are looking at him.

Move any legit expensive piece as long as you, the GM think the return is worth it. Such as a legit, NHL ready prospect or a young proven pro. This is why the GM is hired and fired.

Expensive means any player who is on a payday contract, never their first.

Think about G & V & JVR 3 years from now, if that is your plan. There is a great chance they will be diminishing returns.

I believe we could have cheaper replacements by then.

Move them now, sign some vets and draft well.

- DrMidnite

Giroux has at least 5 more seasons as a top player in the league after this one barring any major injuries. You don't want cheaper younger players having to come in right off the bat and having to be the top players on a team. recipe for disaster.

Move veteran players then sign some veteran players?

5 more seasons is completely subjective, but also what makes him attractive.

If Provy was having a comparable year to the last two I might consider it. Dude had captain written all over him until this rough year.

I said add VETS, just not ones making over 6 million/yr when we clearly are far away.

And I do realize this is a philosophical statement. So no wrong answers, but can think each other is wrong.

Sure it's subjective but you don't trade a player like that especially when the organization has a mandate to start winning from upper management.

Do you think you're going to be able to sign a top 6 veteran player for less than 6M a year?
