I bash on Stan as much as anyone, but credit where credit is due: his Hartman trade for a 1st, a 4th, and Ejdsell is looking very good.

Beaudin didn't make team Canada, but he was in the mix.
Kurashev was a standout at the WJC, and to me looks like he has the tools for a middle 6 player.
Ejdsell is still trying to learn how to skate in Rockford, can't play if you can't skate.

If Beaudin and Kurashev turn into everyday NHLers, it won't take much for them to be better than Ryan 'inopportune late penalty' Hartman.

I agree since last year Stan has made some really good moves to restock the team with solid prospects that can hopefully impact the team sooner rather than later

However, I would keep Kampf at center and have shaw on his wing with sikura or kahun.
- ToewsdNKanefusd

My only thing with that then is it still leaves that 3C role empty unless Kampf takes that role and you give the 4C role to someone else. If no major moves are made how would a lineup like this look next year?

FA/Draft Pick-Toews-Kahun
Cat-Strome-Kane
Perlini-Shaw-Saad
Caggiula-Kampf-Sikura

Depending on who would fit that role with Toews (I bumped Saad down to add more depth through the lineup and play him on his off wing where he's looked better) and possibly Kahun it would look like a much deeper balanced lineup IMO

Actually, the first thing I thought of was you breadman, when I read that. Then I realized he meant the actual player...

I've heard that the Breadman who posts here IS an actual player.

But I've never seen any proof of his private life activities....

Just curious cuz I read the Montreal blog and he was speculating on it, but how would you guys feel if they traded AA for Andrew Shaw? Or some sort of three way trade where we get Shaw back, AA goes elsewhere, and Montreal gets a pick?
- Savetheembers33

I loved Shaw, but I don't think he's the answer. His injury record and history of bad/ill timed penalties (see any thread when he was still a Hawk) are not what we need. Just my $0.02.

Going along with your Anisimov for Shaw trade proposal, I would flip flop Sikura and Perlini and try Sikura at center. Or just have Shaw and Perlini flip flop at LW.

FA/Draft Pick - Toews - Kahun
DeBrincat - Strome - Kane
Shaw- Sikura - Saad
Perlini - Kampf - Caggiula

If not Shaw yet Anisimov is still shipped out (i.e. for draft picks and/or prospect), see if a 3C can be had in free agency like Nelson or Coyle.

EDIT: My preference is a player like Nelson, Coyle, or similar over Shaw for reasons that other posters have shared.

Hard pass on Shaw, that ship has sailed. Guy is a warrior, but like Bolland, the tread on the tire is almost nonexistent. We need younger players who play, not take up IR space.

Check your sources again, haha, I've never touched an ice rink in my life. Hell, I've never put on skates. I'm in school to be a high school English teacher.

I see Caggiula as similar to a Shaw type player at a more reasonable price.

N, just God's way of showing Bettman to cut the loses and kill this team - move it to another location.

Tanner is going to bomb the Coyotes front office now that Schmaltz is out for the year.

Wow, Hawks would have finished in bottom 3 if he got hurt on Hawks roster. Strome has been nice (minus the 3 minors last night) and Perlini has filled a bottom line role.

I know most people are joking when they put that out there, but there are a few people (here and that I've talked to elsewhere) that are for real wanting to trade Cat because he's too small smh

That is unfortunate, thankfully Bowman traded him away. Will that make him even skittish when he comes back healthy?

Gus now is on a six-game point streak and has 18 points in his last 20 games. He’s tied with Hedman, Ristolainen, and Krug for 15th among d-men in points (more than Doughty, OEL, Werenski).

But people still want to showcase him for a TDL move, or want him in a reduced role period.

Just asinine.

When Joker gets inserted into the lineup, hopefully he’s the one in a reduced role as he gets eased in. He’s only got 6 points in his last 29 games (after starting the year with 5 points in the first 3 games).

Keith - Gus
Dahlstrom - Murphy
Joki - Seabrook

That’s what I want to see for the time being. No point in taking Gus off the top pairing while he’s sizzling.

Jokiharju has outperformed Gustafsson this year.
Jokiharju is 19, Gustafsson will be 27 in March.
Jokiharju was a highly regarded prospect, Gustafsson not so much
Jokiharju has the potential to replace Keith as the Blackhawk's #1 defenseman
Gustafsson is best slotted on the 3rd pair and as a PP specialist

From Natural Stat Trick
CF%
Jokiharju 54.65
Keith 50.86
Gustafsson 50.60

Thanks for the stats. I was thinking the same thing that Gustafsson does bring value b as an outstanding offensive player but in a specific role (PP specialist) and in sheltered minutes at ES (3rd pair). If he's the ice time leader on the back end, it should be because the Hawks were on the PP a lot that game.

He's still the same guy. 14pts in 44 games. Throws his body around and is nice to have on your team if you can give him 4th line minutes (which is basically what he has been getting recently).

Caggiula basically replaces what he brought (in a smaller package).
