To be honest i cried when the trade happened, first time since Roy was traded but in hindsight, it has been a good deal and Weber fits in better in Montreal’s ultra traditional market. Still love PK though, his flashy play, his personality and what he did for the city...when i go to the MTL-NAS games, i wear my old 7-6 Subban. Was great the first time he came back, loved it. The welcome back ovation gave me goosebumps much like the game when Koivu came back as a Duck - Karine Hains
I cried too.

After just reading through the comments I can say I stand completely by what I wrote in this blog.
I didn't run down Subban but gave an honest appraisal of his play. Some are skewed by some points I did see in the comments though: personality, work for the city, etc. You cannot logically judge performance if you are still constrained by the "feels". Weber is a better D man then and now despite his age compared to Subban. They are just different players and I feel Weber is better because he brings it all, consistently, with no drama/need for spotlight.
I said to come at me and I'm glad to see ppl respectfully talk about it. Thanks for all of that. But Weber is better despite not pledging to help a foundation raise money over X amount of years and not blasting by all his teammates so he can launch a pretend arrow into the rafters followed by 4' windmill fist pump with 4 second lions roar so the Getty Images guy can get some new pics after his goals.... - Brandon Smillie

Are those lies or is that how the player conducts himself? Truth hurts sometimes..
also, Subban's avg ice time makes him their 4th most used defender and you know he gets big PP minutes. He cost them the game before at 22 mins with his giveaway, then the coach reigns him in and they shut the Habs down. Coincidence or good coaching? |

Saying Subban plays a limited role, based on one game where he played 14 minutes, is not really an honest view of Subban's role. In the playoffs, he was playing 28 minutes per game against the Jets, 3 minutes more than anybody else on the Preds. He's always been used in a defensive role with the Preds, before his recent injury at least.
It's true that he hasn't looked good since coming back from an injury. But that doesn't change how effective he was in his first 2 years with the Preds and how important he was.

I don't think anyone here would doubt that he can be an effective player, and he makes things exciting for the fans. At the same time, I would hope that those who love PK, can also see how having Weber instead, provides a much more calming influence on a team. Better? Not sure that's the correct word for either, as they are very different. |

I also like Weber alot more as a player.
That doesn't take anything away from Subban who's a fantastic player. |
