What kind of price tag would be on Duncan Keith? - bruinzfan77
I would want..
2019 1st
2019 3rd
2020 2nd (becomes a 1st if they win a Cup this year or next year)
Top prospect/player
With the Hawks retaining ~1-1.5 million depending on what player comes back.
If they did the trade with the leafs, I'd want Kap as the player and we'd retain 1.5 million. |

Jesus, can this Keith guy make wine out of water? Thats ridiculous. Also he has a NMC and would have to be protected in the expansion draft, which sinks his value even more. |

Hey Ek,
In your next piece are you going to discuss how disappointed you are in Price skipping the All Star Game?
Seems only fair since you crapped all over Ovi for doing the same thing. |

Now, if there was a way to swing Keith for JJ? I'd absolutely want Keith's terrible contract over Johnson's and CHI gets the cap savings.
And hey, picking up Jack Johnson could really help lock in the Hawks' chances of landing Hughes.
You're welcome. |

That’s a bit rich. Edmonton should offer a 1st round pick 2019
Sekera has to go for cap reasons
Phil Kemp - he had a great WJC
Caleb Jones
That should do it. It’s a bit rich as well but gotta pay the Hawks to take Sekera. |

Holy good god no!
A top prospect (lets pretend this top prospect is a former 1st round pick)...
You're asking for two 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick, and 3rd round pick???!
and this could potentially become a trade that costs THREE 1st round picks and a 3rd??
Yeah man good luck with that one.

I agree, but Chicago would retain 1.5 million. Making his contract cost 4 million AAV. I expect him to play top 4 minutes for the next 3 years. So I think that's a pretty reasonable cap hit for his position.
His entire contract length is 5 years left and his actually salary is much less. I believe his final two years, he gets paid 3 million and then 1.5 million respectively (making him more desirable).
To a team like Toronto, a 1st will basically be ~#30 in the draft. A lower end prospect that will take some time to develop. Toronto is in "win" now mode, so this is less useful for them.
