I believe that they either want to get him the conditioning games or want him to be claimed. No reason not to put on conditioning waivers.

Also, a lot of people on Elliotte Friedman's Twitter believe he will be claimed with some Pens fans hoping they make the claim. Could be a favor between Botts, his former team and Wilson.

Him going to Rochester would also handcuff them with the other Vets, seeing only a few can play each game.

if they cared about losing him, they would have used the conditioning rule


they did not loan him for conditioning, they waived him, so my guess is they don't care if he gets claimed

Not giving him a shot should be a very large clue as to he is not very good and would do nothing to help this team....Sure could he get a few goals, Maybe but we have bigger issues....
