You are so clueless it’s fun. He wasn’t good enough to play a regular shift. So he was banished to Finland. At his age, and given his poor performance, he can be writtten off as a future prospect. - CanuckDon
Donna, you are the last person that should ever tell anyone that they are clueless. The things you spew on here.

there is so much more to this than "Cull and Johnson treated him poorly and now he retreated" . There were 6 rookies wingers to Utica this season and 8 open spots. Of those 8 spots, those 6 rookies had to "beat out" Boucher/MacEwen/Gaunce/Archibald/Carcone/Bancks. Palmu may or may not had been given a fair shot, we won't really know cause we have no idea what the internal discussions are, but based off of the production of Lind/Palmu/Gadjovich in their rookie seasons, its not far fetched to believe that they all have been struggling to some degree. CoryHergott (great Utica guy) was able to bring the media and unstable fans back to reality with some facts on this. Palmu/Gadjo/Lind all had rude awakenings and didn't deserve to be in the lineup over other guys, not much more to it than that.
inserting 3/4 of your winger positions with prospects new to the pro game isn't development. |

This is BS, any Canuck rookie who doesn't score 30 goals is a bust.

If they didn't deserve to play why has Van kept them up and not send them back to junior would be the question then? |

Trent Cull has so many new kids and prospects, I imagine he is still trying to figure them out. If Palmu wasn't playing, then going back to Finland getting top line minutes is probably the next best thing for him, so i don't see it as a negative. If Gadjovich isn't finding his game at the pro level, going back to Junior as over-ager wouldn't be a bad thing either imo. Its easy to spin these things as a negative, but really, they aren't a big deal. He had 7 or 8 new kids, even by the 40 game mark, it would be hard to fully grasp their capabilities/strengths/weaknesses in such a short time frame. |

Well Palmu was drafted in his D+1 season and had already spent a year playing against men. The fact he couldn’t make any sort of impact with Utica likely means he is done as a prospect. 6th rounder, who cares. Lind and Gadjovich have been lousy as well but they are younger and new to pro hockey so they deserve a longer leash |

Everyone seems to pull for the smurfs around here...I cheer against them because they freak me out. Palmu will be out of a hockey within two years and he will become a notorious pick pocketer in Amsterdam |

I'd agree with this for sure. The only part that concerns me is that it sounds like it wasn't properly communicated to him what he needed to do better. It may be a red herring but if that is the case with other, higher potential prospects it could become a problem. |

I'm fine with him going back to Finland. They probably should have sent him back there when he didn't take a regular spot out of training camp.
Pro's and Con's to having Gadjovich and Lind stay in the Ahl this season instead of going back to junior. Won't know which is right until the next season. |

im not familiar with WAR or Wins Above Replacement. Just by the sounds of it, seems like a backup goalie stat lol. - Codes1087
It's a baseball stat. Supposed to show how valuable 1 player is vs another to their particular team. Basically Pettersson being at the top of the list means he is more valuable individually to the Canucks than any other player in the league is to their team. |

so basically. Pettersson is good, the rest of the team sucks, and he is going to have back problems from all the carrying |

I doNt think WAR works for hockey. Too many variables unlike baseball which is a more static sport. Also, it must be wrong because the stat would help support Lefty’s beliefs |

Yeah pretty much.
Supposedly WAR isn't fully worked out for hockey though, lots of people don't trust it |
