Him or Jason King. Doesn't really say defined roles just asst coaches.
Agnew was an asst coach with the Penguins when they won the cup in 15-16. - manvanfan
Yeah I don't see Jason King as a creative PP specialist. I could be wrong.

He used to really look like an all around utility player, and that's clearly how the team still thinks of him, but to me he's really lost his scoring touch. Should only be used for his penalty killing and defensive minutes imo - NorthNuck
He's no better on the boards than Goldobin and the only player worse than him on the PK is Schaller.
I don't know what Granlund does to somehow average 16 minutes a night this year. |

I was definitely pro-Granlund coming into this year. Now Motte does more in the same defensive role than he does though and his offense has totally dried up so I'm in the same boat, make him the 13th guy who fills in when there's injuries. - NorthNuck
Granlund has somewhere around 112 more minutes on the PP this year than Motte and has all of 2 assists more TOTAL to show for it.
Granlund can't even win a faceoff. |

He's basically a placeholder at this point, shouldn't be around by the time this team is serious about the playoffs.
I'm just hoping guys like Z-Mac get a look this season to see if they can be an upgrade on Granlund/Schaller. |

Granlund has 6 goals 14 pts and kills PP . What are you guys expecting for 1 mil?

Who knows. I thought they would have more defined roles like they have with the Canucks but guess not. |

With a healthy Sutter and Beagle there is no conceivable reason for Granlund to crack 10 minutes a night.
This is still a rebuilding year in the big picture (unless the FO has moved the goalposts again) and Horvat, Gaudette, Goldobin and Virtanen should be getting those PP and PK minutes while Granlund basically serves purely as a mop to clean up whatever is left. |

lol
those are the exact numbers you used to hate from our previous 3rd liners not too long ago
I don't think it matters much this year, but I'm hoping he isn't around long-term because Green overplays him. I don't think he's bad as organizational depth though. |

We are halfway through the year. I have no problem with him as a 13 th forward |

I can agree with that for how, but I will always have a bias against weak players who aren't that fast. |

Why use a 6th round pick on a player and then don't bother to try and develop him?
Another stupid move by Canucks management. - manvanfan
There's only so much room for the C grade prospects in Utica. In light of that, developing in Europe is the better option for him and the Canucks.

Utica's going to be a really interesting situation to watch. Its run by a couple of Linden guys at the moment and the Jim's could both be gone in the summer.
It'll be curious if Utica goes and signs a bunch more AHL lifers to fill up the roster again this summer to clog up the depth chart down there with Lind, Dahlen, Jasek, Palmu, MacEwen and McMaster up front. Lockwood is likely joining next summer and other graduates like Dipietro and Brassard. Plus mix in any potential prospects they bring in at the TDL.
I'll be curious if they try to bring Utunen and that Swedish D who can't stickhandle over as well. If Seifers is still around I'd be surprised. |

I still have very little belief that Brassard is capable of being an AHL product. |

I don't think much of him either, but I think he's signed so the team has some belief in him.
It'll be curious if they stick with the "this 29yr old AHLer with 60 career points in 300 games gets a spot over the prospects because Earned It" mentality. |

I've always thought that overage CHL or college free agents could help a roster. If you actually look at the undrafted best rookie seasons over the past 5 years. It's not too pretty except for the occasional gem.
http://www.nhl.com/stats/...sort=points,goals,assists
I don't know if that link will take you straight there but I'll put it this way.
Troy Stecher has the 7th best rookie season for an undrafted player in the past 4 years. |
