I think Kaako Kuppari beyond being fun to say, has the best chance to be a steady player that can be relied on to score. Hughes IMO is either going to be an exceptional or a bust. I need one of them to make this season be ok. - youarewrong

I get the sky is falling and we want everyone gone..but im.not preparing for a lengthy rebuild. I want a shake up not a tear down. I'm not trading Jake simmer jvr gudas amac weise weal raffl laughton lindblom and whomever else you all think your trading. Pick 3 guys tops. Yeezus. Trading every remotely talented player we have wr will be a bottom dweller for a century. - Tfaehner
I would trade any one of those guys.....But I would prefer a hockey trade. talent for talent. You don't have to trade a core player for a prospect or draft choices. You obviously don't want to trade Frost or Farabee for a 30 year old forward who's only going to help for the next 2 years....But this team hopefully is exploring moves to change the mix...talent for talent. Because this mix is proving to be the worst in the entire league. Does anyone think its going to fix itself? like Hextall did?

I have come here to chew bubble gum and hate on the Flyers and I'm all out of bubble gum.
This season has 06-07 written all over it. I actually hate this team now. As I watched the game last night I couldn't help but notice how irritated I got watching it. I hate their advertising, I can't stand their mascot, I can't stand half their players, I can't stand their loud music during stoppages of play (which I can hear how loud even while watching on TV). I just can't take the lack of effort, execution, or results. I have no faith in ANYONE that they have a chance to score.
They are beyond boring to watch. Honestly, Bill should get hazard pay. At this point, I couldn't care less who they trade. It has become a chore to watch this team.

On his defining his general approach and whether he will ease in to his new job:
The term “ease in”… we’re 25 games in, there’s still a lot of runway left in the season, but the season also gets old pretty quickly. I would like to see what solutions we have to some of our problems and see if we have some of those solutions in-house, see if we have some solutions internally. We’re 29th in the league in goals against right now, and obviously there’s been a lot of injuries to the goaltending, there’s been a lot of uncertainty in that position. But clearly we need to give up fewer goals. There’s no doubt about that. So how do we go about that? The first thing for me is I’d like to sit down with the coaches and let’s see what we can do. How can we improve? If we can’t find the solutions internally, then I certainly will look externally and do what we can to improve the team. But our goal is to make the playoffs this year, and we’d like to find solutions to get there. I can tell you I’ll be aggressive in that sense, but the first thing I think you have to do is see if you have in-house solutions. |

Kakko intrigues me. I guess i'm just a little concerned with yet another small player in Hughes altho he does have speed.
A quick-thinking winger, Kakko never seems to be in a rush. He reads the game exceptionally well and finds himself a step ahead while the play is still developing. He is confident with the puck and capable of handling it in small spaces. With decent size for a player of his age, Kakko protects the puck well and uses his high hockey IQ to make smart offensive plays. He plays a mature game and is already strong enough to compete with men in the Finnish Liiga. Kakko excels offensively and beats opponents with smarts and skill both on and off the puck. (Matias Strozyk, 2018)
..quality hands.. able to keep the puck under control when physically challenged.. works in all areas to help his team get possession, Draftin Europe 2018 |

Scott indicated that he wanted to see an end to the team annually finding itself in a dog fight to get into the playoffs as a wild-card or divisional third seed. Both he and Holmgren want to see the team win more consistently.
"Our fans deserve better," Scott said.
Holmgren said that the next GM will have a lot of resources at his disposal to improve the team this season or beyond. He did not elaborate except to say that he thinks many different options should be considered and enacted. |

The movie is "They Live" starring Roddy Piper. I thought that's what you were referring it from. Movie or your dad's line, still a great line.

I get the frustration but I'm in the "they're not that far away" camp. I feel like one or two good players can make a huge difference in this team. Concerned that JVR is a miss - great hands but no speed or d is a luxury for more skilled teams. They don't backcheck and they don't move their feet, so they don't create space for themselves or remove it from their opponents. Coots get tied up on that backdoor opportunity, but doesn't tie up his guy on the Blues goal - and he's our defensive center. Why does this team not mark in the defensive zone? When they do (like TK the other night preventing that goal) its a revelation. This is simple fundamentals, stuff they have to know at this point, brutal.
Not sure what's going on but they're played last night like a team that has figured out they're out of the playoff race and that player and coaching changes are coming. |
