Certainly true, but I thought Mika's goal showed a heck of a lot of talent!

I watched most of the 1st and half of the 2nd. They didn't look too bad, but I don't think any of them understand the concept of looking behind them or supporting each other defensively.


Thought ADA's 12 minutes were bullpoop. I've seen guys get put into the boards MUCH harder than that with no call. Then one gloved punch to the face gets a misconduct?!?!

Staal got burned pinching again. He has been more aggressive this year pinching but has to be smarter or make sure he has coverage if he goes in deep into the O-zone. Plus, you can't miss the net by three feet, that resulted in Marchessault goal.

Definitely true on the Marchessault goal.
On the 1st goal, yes Staal pinched unsuccessfully at his blue line, but Shatty pinched at their blue line then made no effort to get back into position. And Vesey was way too slow to pick up the man coming down the middle.

Didn't see the game, but this sounds like the usual defensive responsibility lapses. Glad Staal is back to being offensive-minded, his partner needs to see this and cover. This simply has not been happening the last few seasons, whether the coach is Beuk, Ulf, or Ruff. Seems simple to me, but what do I know.

If Kirk pinches, Stall has to be back or have the forward rotate back. The latter is much harder, so easier if Staal is the D man high in the zone and can stop the counter attack.

I get that. All season we've seen someone pinch and nobody "swivel heads" to rotate back to cover, opening the ice up for a breakaway.
