That's true but Leclair and Desjardins turned out to be way too much - obie
it wasn't a good trade by any means but Recchi was a star at the time and widely considered the best player in the deal. but let's be realistic about LeClair... he went on to play with a guy who, at his best, was the most dominant player of his generation and he was the perfect fit. if LeClair had spent the next decade playing next to Saku Koivu he would not have been putting up 50-goal seasons.

Hard to argue with that... a lot harder ranking the 10 worst trades as opposed to the better ones, mostly cause theres more bad ones, especially of the blockbuster variety

Gomez was bad because everyone knew the Rangers were desperate to unload his salary and he was so clearly heading into a decline.

Absolutely... Leclair and Desjardins was a greater price to pay than Mcdonagh but Recchi gave the Habs much more than Gomez & Pyatt, and it's not even close
