I will be interested to see if they try to break Frost in as a wing or a center. If the organization wants to fast track him then I could totally see him as 1LW to Giroux at center. Coots and NOPA slot down. - juiced
I would like them to start Frost as a winger.

you would sign him for 6 years? you think all of the older core should be back? its been how many years of mess to average? - nastyflyergirl
I think we shouldn’t overreact to reports. |

There is little reason to keep Voracek. The game he plays is not something I want the kids to imitate. - ggunky
This year's version I agree.last years version I disagree. |

I think we should really be looking at Duchene. Trading for him if thats the only way you think you can get a jump to resign him, or through FA. That will fix the Center issue.
JVR-Duchene-
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
Lindblom-Patrick-
Laughton
Just fill in the blanks. - youarewrong
Now you are back to the same issues you had earlier in the year when JvR was playing with Giroux ,depending on who the other winger is, you now have a line that is defensively liable and no pure scorer. |

When absolutely nobody is scoring, I truly get going with G, Coots and a rotatable right wing of TK, Voracek or Simmonds. Understandable. It is not the team winning formula for this roster but can certainly be a jump start. Until a trade can be made to acquire a 1C or 2C, G should be at center.
A “do your best with what you have” won’t make everyone happy though. The roster holes are still there, and we have surplus in some areas and missing role players in others.
And just forget line numbering altogether. Play who plays best or matches up best.
Lindblom - Coots - Voracek
JVR- G - Raffl
Laughton - Patrick - TK
Weise - Varone - Simmonds - NC Flyers Fan
Nothing about this seasons version of Coots tells me he should be the first line center.

What has Simmonds shown you the past 2 seasons that warrants a long-term (5+ year), big-money ($6M+ per) extension?
If this was the 13/14, or even 15/16 version of Wayne Simmonds who forechecks hard, hits, fights, wins every 50/50 battle, stirs the pot, can score more than garbage goals, is a semi-effective PK player, and can actually skate with the puck...yeah, I'd consider it. He lost lost almost every one of those traits. |

I don't think they have a Kane, but I think they have a better overall mix. The one thing that Chicago had that the Flyers don't is a solid blue line with two top-pair defensemen. Other than that, I think Hart is better than Niemi, and as long as 2 of their forward prospects pan out along with Myers, I think the team has the potential (potential, no guarantee), in a year or two, to be a contender. - jmatchett383
I don’t see how we have a better overall mix if they were developing a better blue line.
Kane has become a consistent and elite winger in this league. Toews is one of the best two way centers in the league for most of his career. Duncan Keith a top five defender for most of his career. Seabrook probably could have been a number one anywhere else but chose to stay. Dustin Byfuglien came through that pipeline.
I’ll admit there is a lot of potential within our group but that Hawks team has accomplished a lot. |

To be fair, with the roster we have and holes we have, a good portion of the offense needs to be aided by defenseman shots.

I think Simmonds had a decent season last year, with injury and some power play time taken from him. 24 goals. |

Yes, Chicago had a better blue line than we have today. If Provy and Ghost bounce back to their norms, Morin can stay healthy, and Myers can play a top-4 role, I think our will be an equivalent. |

I feel the same way, Simmonds is a great guy off the ice and does a lot in the community, but its a business and the on-ice product means the most. It's either having a champion caliber team or fanboy loyalty...can't have both. I choose a chance at a Stanley Cup. |
