The plan was to make the playoffs on a team built around a star goalie and defenseman. The Coyotes had a really good and deep roster (that lacked star power, obviously) but they were out of it for so long, and have such a precarious situation that they just really want to be half way competitive and make the playoffs.

Something they easily could have done if they'd been healthy. I mean, they're six points out with only 12 games played by their #1 goalie let alone the ridiculous amount of other injuries.

If they had a really good and deep roster, shouldn't they have been able to overcome injuries and keep their playoff drive alive?

How would the Leafs do with season ending injuries to Matthews, Tavares, Gardiner, and Andersen, then having Marner, Nylander, Kadri in and out of the lineup and no Travis Dermott until Christmas?

Better for sure, but the Coyotes were a borderline playoff team who is now only six points back. I think they were pretty deep up and down the lineup. If fully healthy they'd have a fourth line of Cousins, Richardson and Fishcher, and a bottom pairing of Goligoski and Connauton. That's not half bad, I think they're deep. Or were. But how deep is anyone in a salary cap league?

Wasn’t Darcy Kumpher half the the equation that had you place the yotes goalie situation at he top of the NHL? Shouldn’t be be able to keep the drive alive?

I don't think they're deep at all. In your "Caps won the luckiest cup ever" blog you mentioned that one reason that they were lucky is that they started Grubauer instead of Holtby in the playoffs. I didn't really get your point, but what doing that really meant was that the Caps were deep in net. The Yote's are not. And trying to build a team around Raanta is like building a team around Rick Dipietro. Sooner or later you have to realize that you got a lemon and move on. Plus, if Demers going down breaks the back of your defense then your defense is not deep.

Holy smokes Mr Tanner. You sir, can take a punch. While I agree with most on here that you view the Yotes with an overly optimistic slant, most of us have been guilty of this gruesome crime ourselves. Comes with being a fan I suppose. Your musings are entertaining and I will follow along even if it's with at least one eye looking towards next season. Besides. Houston Coyotes sounds ridiculous.

Which is why they will be rebranded as the Aeros (a fitting homage not only to the Houston WHA team, but also to the origin of the franchise, considering they began as the Jets)

1) You're exaggerating like crazy and 2) I already gave my excuses, so what are you waiting for?
- James_Tanner

Now try to explain how you think that the season is officially over... the Coyotes have 40 games left! Look at a schedule!

James Tanner: Schmaltz Out - Season Officially Over

Well that's just great. Now I'm going to have to watch half of the Norfolk Admirals roster on Friday & Saturday since half the Roadrunners roster will be in Glendale. There's always next year, though. Except you know that Chychrun will miss the first 25 games or so. Is that part of his contract?

They are not a good team. Accept it and move on. All i see is you writting everyday about how unlucky they are but in reality they are just not a good team. Every single year beside the one they went to the western conference finals they have been awful. It is not because of all the injuries they have or that they are unlucky, they are a BAD team. You say everything that you believe is a fact when you cant provide any actual facts proving your point. Its always just they are unlucky and thats a fact. .If those players who are out with injuries were playing still i really doubt they would be much better than where they are right now. Demers is not the all star you make him out to be, i would say he is no better than a #4, so him being out is really not what is crippling this team.strome really isnt close to how good you try to make him out to be. Galchenyuk is not this all star you try to make him out to be and once again you blame his season on "bad luck". I remember reading a blog of yours after the domi trade where you talk about how they yotes absolutely destroyed the habs in that deal. How is that looking now?Raanta is an ok goalie but is always hurt. Keller and oel are really the only players i would say are stars on this team. The other thing that really bugs me about your blogs is you continue to throw out opinions and say they are facts. Do you even know what a fact is? You saying they are unlucky because of this or that and then saying it is a fact is most definitely not a fact. I see you constantly do this and when someone calls you out on it, you call them an idiot and supply no actual facts to show how your argument is right. The way you act on these comments remind me of a 10 year old child.
