If Seattle takes him this franchise is dead to me and I'll be all in for them - NorthNuck

I'm honestly surprised the conversation has gone on this long over it. Seems pretty cut and dry to me - NorthNuck
Hypothetically, and this is going on A) our current roster and B) our current prospects working out as hoped.
Protection would include: pettersson, horvat, boeser, gaudette, virtanen, Dahlen, Macewen. (Not sure if LE must be protected)
D: Juolevi, _______ , _________. G: Demko
There is 100% room to protect Hughes, but again, we are judging based off todays roster and not forecasting any free agents, trades, acquisitions, etc in 3 years. Main selling point is lots of roster fluctuation can happen in 3 years.

The counter argument is that there's a group of prospects on here that in all likelihood will have at least 1 player who fails to live up to expectations and isn't worth protecting. Juolevi included |

I agree. Half of the protection list above could fall into that category as well. Either way, its moot as it doesnt seem like Hughes is leaving early and canucks arent asking him to either. |

2.5 seasons is a long ways away. We don't know if any other prospect like Brisebois turn out to be a solid defeñder, nor do we know if Gadjovich turns out by then.
Pretty moot points for sure, but worth another look in another year or so. |

Like what marwood, carol and i said earlier. Its easy to not worry about who we are protecting in 3 years when we look at our roster now. There isnt a single D man i would be upset about losing if the expansion happened today. I hope that when the draft comes, our entire D is different than it is today. Hughes playing 40 games this season as opposed to 10 (or whatever the number is) isnt worth it to me to having be forced to use a protection slot when the option to avoid that is there. Thats all we were saying. - Codes1087
Exactly. It gives you more flexibility to sign ufa/trade for dmen which we sorely need. Not anything mire to it. |

It's still a good deal of time. JB could make one of his trades for a project-type and have him turn out to be a 2nd pairing guy, we could take a shot at a top flight FA and get him because EP will make it an easier sell, OJ might come back in force and end up as a top 4 guy 2 years from now.
Lots of possibilities, why take a senseless risk? - NorthNuck

The short people need to get back to traditional jobs, that's why the Circus and Wrestling industry is struggling. |

I'll start the game day hate.
It was only one game last night but MacEwen was not that good. He was a team worst -3 with fellow Vantel love McEneny.
It was only one game but I didn't see much in terms of skills from Mac, that would allow him to be able to move past a 4th liner in the NHL. |
