He had a great takeaway and feed to Pominville for a really good 1-on-0 look in the first.

curious how Nylander looked tonight for Rochester (he scored the lone goal I saw)? - gordong
Danny ORegan clapped a bomb from the right point on the PP and Nylander deflected it as it went by.
I thought Nylander looked really good in the first - I was pleasantly impressed. The Amerks dominated Toronto in possession and pressure but got outshot somehow.
In the second period the Marlies were awarded at least 3, I think 4, PPs - two caused the crowd to boo - and the game got away from Rochester.
Nylander disengaged by half way through the second IMO. The whole team disengaged about 5:00 into the 3d.
Wedgewood sucks. Olofsson and Asplund both did nothing. Guhle was solid but not amazing. Will Borgen made a few nice plays and looked solid. Bailey looks like a career AHLer. Wilson can stay here and become the next Jody Gage. |

Im actually fine with it... (they are still 4-6 players away) But management decided not to help this team this year... its freaking obvious. The only way for the sabres to compete this year (for the playoffs) was outstanding goaltending, which they got the first 28 ish games... average play by the goalies even good play in most games and they are going to loose. They simply don't have to horses to compete offensively.(this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone here) - gordong
This was a transition year. I honestly would be shocked if it wasn't Botts goal to pick twice in the top 15 this year, get rid of the deadweight, and hit the ground running next year. This team is overachieving even with the recent sputtering. |

American teams win it, but the cup spends more time in Canada each year during the summer then anywhere else. I never understood this argument. American teams would never see a cup if all the Canadians played within our countries borders. |

Sounds like we need a big, beautiful wall to our north. Maybe not a wall, but a barrier. A shining glistening erect fence. It's not a compensation thing. I promise. |

that's a bullpoop excuse.... Skinner. If everything hinges on Skinner signing or not why did they wait so freaking long to even start talking (if they even are right now) Set a (frank)ing budget, and go get someone, if Skinner exceeds the budget trade him or skimp someplace else.... Not and excuse in my mind, this is not rocket science, it's budget planning 101 - gordong
No, I meant adding Skinner. If they weren't trying they wouldn't have added him. Even for the price they got him for there's no reason to give up assets if you're not trying, and if you're not trying, why the (frank) would he even talk about re-signing?
As for why wait to talk? Who knows? They can't add the 8th year until after the TDL, so what's the rush?
They're trying, they're just not selling out, and there's no reason they should. They're a very young team. The oldest member of the core is barely 24(Risto). It'll be Skinner if he does indeed re-sign, but even then he's a grizzled vet compared to Eichel, Mittelstadt, Dahlin, Reinhart. And they're going to get even younger next year with Pominville likely gone and Moulson coming off the books. |

You wouldn’t take this through 40-ish games if we said that we would be on pace for 90+ points before the year ? - sbroads24

3 weird/fluky goals or the Sabres win 3-1
Dahlin has hit that point in his rookie year where he hit the rookie wall
ERod played well
Eichel shouldn’t have played
Did Mitts play?
They need to get a true 2C and a 2LW
They played awful in the 2nd but still lost because of weird fluky goals. - Stripes77
He had a couple of nice plays, especially that no-look behind the back backhand pass to Pominville wide open right in front that McElhinney got his blocker on.
Edit: Late. |

Can't force Skinner to negotiate. He joined the worst team in the NHL, only makes sense that he'd want to see how things went....and his leverage increases by the day. |

Arrivabene is out? I totally missed that.
They did (frank) up a lot this year. Sure Vettel made his own mistakes, but the team dropped the ball enough too. |

Agreed, but to hell with his leverage. If he really, actually wants $9M per then Trade him. If not, they better have an agreement before the deadline or I’d just take another 1st ++ for him anyways. Try to sign him for less when nobody pays him that in July if you really want. |

Without any of the garbage goals that went off defensemen on both teams, we win this game 2-1.
It was a pretty even game. Eichel looked tender. Reinhart is useless unless he's on a line with Eichel and that includes the PP. However, the top line was out there for the most goals against, right when we finally got that secondary scoring.
Reinhart needs to start putting the biscuit in the basket. |

I’m pretty eager to see how leclerc performs in the Ferrari. Could be a good season if he lights it up. Kimi just didn’t have the same pace much the last couple years. Makes it easier when your teammate is right with you imo. - TheHank
I'd rather not have a repeat of Vettel's last year at Red Bull either with the fresh-faced kid coming in and making waves. Or you're going to have a problem, maybe as big a problem as Rosberg and Hamilton had. |

Not if he's on a line with Eichel and Skinner, or they need another 3 minutes of ice time. They've taken him off the net front on the PP to play him below the goal line, he's now making the pass to the tap in goal. I'm fine with his career shattering points pace he's on so far. Everything staying the same he'll finish just 2 or 3? shy of his career average in goals. |
