Wilson or Girgs can sit - RhinoFan
I expect Wilson up after the break. I don't sit Girgs for Smith, not regularly.

I wonder if he wears a cape and flies. - Der Kaiser
I think the Cape and goal scoring went away when they removed pommer from the eichel line.
Pommer has 9 goals 9 assists // 36 years old
Erod has 2 goals 10 assists // 25 years old
Pommer banked us points this season.
Like him or not

Erod hits the press box before the legend does
Are we comparing points
Pommer 18
Erod 12
Or goals ?
Pommer 9
Erod 2

Goals are important, please stop pretending that it's ok for erod to have 2 goals on the season.
Especially when angry larry has 4
And is now the 2c for tonight.
That pretty much says it all - Boss34
My agenda is advocating for 4th liners who score 20 points, which I've shown is average/good

When the 2nd and 3rd lines aren't producing at a reasonable pace, I don't even look at the 4th line, especially when they are carrying the team defensively.

Ok, I thought you were pretending erod was good again?
1 season Pommer at 25 years old 82gp 27 goals 53 assists 80 points.
Erod entire career at 25 years old combined scoring:
gp 117 14 goals 31 assists
45 career points.
I think Phil sits erod again, over pommer |

Yes, and in multivolume set Boss' Fairy Tales he also serves as an assistant GM who tells Botts when to get rid of the players who are someone deemed toxic, whispers deep and abiding truths into the ears of our naive clueless youngins, serves as a flawless role model for playoff hockey (how NOT to win the Cup, I guess), and casts an aurora all through the community. I'm waiting to see the post where you tell us he probably walks onto Lake Erie to settle the waters during violent storms.
Do you remember when this guy was captain? The team was the definition of mediocrity? Have you ever seen him take the team on his back EVER? I have seen more leadership out of Jack in one season that I saw from Pommer in his entire career. Hell, I saw more leadership out of Zemgus Girgensons.
You're wrong about Pommer. He's a nice guy. He had a nice career. But he's not a living legend, you're fantasizing with this idea that Botterill is relying on him as the prototype of a playoff professional, and it's time for the franchise to move on from a guy who just can't do it anymore.
Remember when Jack not only looked up to Matt Molson but lived with him, and played with his kids??? Matt Molson's career is what happens to guys who are respected, but incapable of getting it done. |

Seriously, great well thought out post.
😀
Funny too
I'm not pretending pommer has done anything on the ice in 2 months. His leadership is important. If nothing else, hes not dividing the lockerroom. Being a Richard
But, I'm sure you watched the games when 53-15-29 helped us bank points for 3 weeks?

So now you're comparing E-Rod today to Pommer 11 years ago as justification to play him more? That is rich. |

Yes, I watched those games. I recall that during those games other players contributed secondary scoring and we didn't rely solely on the 1st line to win games. It seems to me that anyone who has rode along with Jack and Skinny has done well, but our secondary scoring has dropped off since Pommer joined those ranks.
What point did you take from those games that is relevant to the team right now, and what about those games tells you that our best hope for success includes Pommer on the ice over other guys in the system? |

No. Smith played up, but his defense didn't seem to be an eyesore. With Jack back we can use him as the 2nd PK unit to cover for Girgs. You don't think that works? |

Pommer still gives %100 effort.
Just like every other secondary scorer, he is in a slump and not scoring.
I'm not advocating for the Sabres to extend him next year.
Just let him ride off into the sunset.
I'm not sure why/how you do not see the need for a veteran presence on our super young team?
He is a +5. Not hurting the team . Who's gonna come in and score more at 10 minutes a night?
