Goals are important, please stop pretending that it's ok for erod to have 2 goals on the season.
Especially when angry larry has 4
And is now the 2c for tonight.
That pretty much says it all - Boss34

Ok, I thought you were pretending erod was good again?
1 season Pommer at 25 years old 82gp 27 goals 53 assists 80 points.
Erod entire career at 25 years old combined scoring:
gp 117 14 goals 31 assists
45 career points.
I think Phil sits erod again, over pommer - Boss34
This is such a bizarre post |

I like Smith, I just think Girgs plays over him - sbroads24
But is that because of role or talent?
I can see the argument for Girgs being a better shutdown, defensive player, just surprised anyone would view Smith as inferior based on talent overall. |

Erod hits the press box before the legend does
Are we comparing points
Pommer 18
Erod 12
Or goals ?
Pommer 9
Erod 2

Pommer still gives %100 effort.
Just like every other secondary scorer, he is in a slump and not scoring.
I'm not advocating for the Sabres to extend him next year.
Just let him ride off into the sunset.
I'm not sure why/how you do not see the need for a veteran presence on our super young team?
He is a +5. Not hurting the team . Who's gonna come in and score more at 10 minutes a night? - Boss34
We have veterans like Hutton and Skinner, even (holding breath) Bogo who are actually fulfilling their roles.
I think there's probably a number of kids in the system who can score more at 10 minutes a night, and I'm not gonna stop looking to improve the team - whether at Pommer's spot, Okposo's, Sheary's or anyone elses - if the opportunity comes up. |

Why would anyone play a former 1st round pick that just turned 25 with 384 nhl games under his belt. Familiar with the coaches system after playing for a year and a half under housley.
Over a college free agent 24 year old with 6 nhl games experience?
Talent?
veteran leadership?
Experience?
Defense awareness?
Who has more value if they were to be on the open market? |

So I am just catching up, is the debate who is Better E-Rod or Pommer? |

I haven't watched an All Star game since we hosted it once in the late 70s(?) but it is nice to see that the NHL's second-leading goal scorer just barely made it.
Kudos Mr Skinner! Now you're at the same respect level as Lioneater lol. - LandlordTom
nhl format is the best of them...3-on-3 is a hoot and since it's basically a skating and skills competition, there's no harm...it's a lot of fun for fans to watch |

I think the debate is whether Pommer at 25 was so good that he's a better option at 36 because an undrafted free agent at 25 doesn't have as many points he did as a 2nd round pick in 2005
Pretty sure |

Kaiser is more of a wet sandwich, Beady is a wet noodle, Fitz is a wet dream, Gerbe is wet behind the ears, Tom Brady used to throw to Wet Welker, and Wet Bandit is a....never mind. - LandlordTom

Because the 24 year old showed more in those 6 games than the 25 year old has shown in years. |

Oh that is a tough one, I can see both sides Kinda but to me Pommer is still the better option over E-rod. He is a proven NHL'er, while E-rod does have some talent and has a place on THIS roster, he would not crack several other teams rosters... Pommer would still at 36.
That's my .02 |

Yes, and in multivolume set Boss' Fairy Tales he also serves as an assistant GM who tells Botts when to get rid of the players who are someone deemed toxic, whispers deep and abiding truths into the ears of our naive clueless youngins, serves as a flawless role model for playoff hockey (how NOT to win the Cup, I guess), and casts an aurora all through the community. I'm waiting to see the post where you tell us he probably walks onto Lake Erie to settle the waters during violent storms.
Do you remember when this guy was captain? The team was the definition of mediocrity? Have you ever seen him take the team on his back EVER? I have seen more leadership out of Jack in one season that I saw from Pommer in his entire career. Hell, I saw more leadership out of Zemgus Girgensons.
You're wrong about Pommer. He's a nice guy. He had a nice career. But he's not a living legend, you're fantasizing with this idea that Botterill is relying on him as the prototype of a playoff professional, and it's time for the franchise to move on from a guy who just can't do it anymore.
Remember when Jack not only looked up to Matt Molson but lived with him, and played with his kids??? Matt Molson's career is what happens to guys who are respected, but incapable of getting it done. - Der Kaiser

This is pretty cool:

If my research is correct, Eichel (2018, 2019) will become the first #Sabres player to appear in a second All-Star Game for the club since Brian Campbell (2007, 2008). Between them, 1x each: Vanek ('09), Pominville ('12), Girgensons ('15), O'Reilly ('16), Okposo ('17).

I pointed out that Elie would have 6 points over 82 and Boss started comparing 25 year-old Pominville to Evan Rodrigues
Still not sure what happened |
