That Brind'amour quote was from when Skinner was traded. What the hell is he supposed to say? - BINGO!
"He's a good player and we wish him well."
not
"He's an bumhole, (frank) him and the horse he rode in on. Also, he's lazy." |

Pommer is the long time respected employee who's given the company his all.
Pommer went years without calling in sick or missing work.
Just slowly let him work less and maybe manage the other employees around the office.
Show jimmy the copy machine and how it works best
When you need a boost around the busy time of the year, have him hustle sales again. No need to wear him down.
Pommer won't be nervous about the big sales pitch. He'll be ready. - Boss34

Nah. Brind'amour retired before Jeff was drafted and didn't join the coaching staff until Jeff's 2nd year.
Basically their narrative on the whole thing was that because Jeff came in and was the most marketable star they had, he was never benched or called out on his on ice habits.
It was dumb. It's still dumb. But it happened. - BINGO!
We do live in the age of doubling down even when you've been throughly proven wrong, so I guess it makes a certain amount of sense. |

If there's one thing id love to commit to self improvement wise its this. It's few and far between and I find I have a ton of respect for those who can both defend their point with strength but still admit it was wrong if proven so. |

Yes, and in multivolume set Boss' Fairy Tales he also serves as an assistant GM who tells Botts when to get rid of the players who are someone deemed toxic, whispers deep and abiding truths into the ears of our naive clueless youngins, serves as a flawless role model for playoff hockey (how NOT to win the Cup, I guess), and casts an aurora all through the community. I'm waiting to see the post where you tell us he probably walks onto Lake Erie to settle the waters during violent storms.
Do you remember when this guy was captain? The team was the definition of mediocrity? Have you ever seen him take the team on his back EVER? I have seen more leadership out of Jack in one season that I saw from Pommer in his entire career. Hell, I saw more leadership out of Zemgus Girgensons.
You're wrong about Pommer. He's a nice guy. He had a nice career. But he's not a living legend, you're fantasizing with this idea that Botterill is relying on him as the prototype of a playoff professional, and it's time for the franchise to move on from a guy who just can't do it anymore.
Remember when Jack not only looked up to Matt Molson but lived with him, and played with his kids??? Matt Molson's career is what happens to guys who are respected, but incapable of getting it done. - Der Kaiser
Add some tomato's to that salad, forget the words.
And call Slow Joe, he can help. |

Everyone does it to an extent, but it's gotten so bad in the last 5 years or so. Mostly with the meteoric rise of social media taking over most people's lives. |

Have you petitioned Ek to be the 'Canes blogger? I don't think there is one. The pay probably sucks and you have to talk to Tanner at the Christmas parties, but... |

I feel like it goes beyond just social media. Seems to be hand in hand with the increase in those likely to succumb to perfectionism (also way on the rise) |

100% on Hutton. Bad play but he usually rebounds nicely after a crappy goal is scored on him.
