Are you still hurt that Eddie Lack got traded?
- VANTEL

Nope, I like Marky, always have. I think a 3rd for Lack was one of JB's best trades

I really hope Canucks go for Dougie Hamilton. Yes he is a bible thumper but come on this is the Canucks . This team is built on choir boys. Aside from MDZ and Jake there are no party animals.

He is 25 yrs old 6'6 RHD and puts up solid points every year . Two years left at 5.75 per. That is what you should be looking at not 7 years of EK.

lol very true. What could it hurt?

I don’t think a 7 year contract would hurt us. By the time it’s up he will be 35. Load it up on the front end. He is entering the prime of his career. Jesus I’m talking myself into it. See bias.

I don't think you need to worry, there will be other, more appealing locations 'outside Canada'. But, Beagle was convinced, and he's here for only 4 years...

The thing about acquiring Karlsson is it would be attractive for about three years and then you would be throwing things at the TV for the remaining 4 years.
- VANTEL

I take a different view, he's currently 28 years old, he'd be 29-30-31-32-33-34-35 if you signed him to a seven year UFA deal. Those are some prime years for an extremely talented player. It's rare to draft a player of this caliber.

He's not a physical guy so the wear and tear on his body isn't a concern, Nick Lidstrom won his first Norris at 30 years old in 2001 and won his last ten years later at 40.

I don't think he is signing here so it may be moot. Always fun to discuss.

I remember hearing before he got traded from Calgary that he had interest in Vancouver

Speaking of Erik Karlsson signing here

For the people that are against it. The goal is to win the Stanley Cup. EK get's you a heck of a lot closer to a cup.

A lot of people over time have said they don't care that Chicago and LA are now completely screwed because they won cups.

Signing Karlsson may put Van into cap troubles in the later part of his contract but would that really matter if he gets you a cup?

Canucks have 36 games remaining.
Canucks have 45 points.
Canucks need at least 93 points to make the playoffs, maybe more.
Canucks would need to go (something like) 22-10-4 over the remainder of the season to accomplish that.
Canucks are not a bubble team.
Canucks should get ahead of the market and move players they are moving on from sooner than the deadline.

You really think Canucks are a Erik Karlsson away from a cup? EK will take us from 20 th to the top of the mountain?

Vintsy made this exact argument/statement a page earlier. If he gets you a cup in say year 3, which to me is far fetched, but regardless, would it matter in years 4 through 7. The answer to me is no, you dont care what happens if he brings you a cup. My point is, its a stretch to think that the canucks miraculously expedite their rebuild from bottom 5 or 7 in the league to cup champions based off of an Erik Karlsson signing and does his "prime years" really give this team a legimate shot at the cup for the canucks in the next 3 years, and i personally dont think he alone does that.

Based on past signings, I have no doubt the Canucks would commit 7 years to EK. I'm told the cap isn't a problem, we have lots of it.

Anyone who says 12m x 7y is too much for Karlsson but defends the 3m x 4y that beagle makes is a hypocrite.

I think, for what it's worth, you're going to see he Canucks fall in the standings with their light schedule and teams below making up games on us. Arizona is only two points behind us now with two games in hand.

There were no racist comments .As always one poster stirring the crap when it comes to pulling out the race card.

Ok good. Who’s the one poster? Neem? I never knew he was a PC kind of guy.

I remember a guy named Kaptain who used to stir the pot with some obvious racial posts but I think that was more trolling then anything else.

We've already committed to winning a cup in the next 4 years with Eriksson and beagle signed to put us over the top, Karlsson would be offensive overkill comparably.

It's not about being an Erik Karlsson away from a cup but one extremely important piece to your puzzle. He gives you a seven year window with Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser and whoever else they can add to that pile.

I think if they make no moves, they can hold fast to the 4-5-6 spot in the division. But trying to get 48 or 50 of a possible 72 points is a reach.
