And deservedly so it seems. Poor bastard just needed to play with skilled center. |

You got that right my piggy friends, now only if the Oilers would do their part and make the playoffs we might see another BOA.

11 points for Strome in 26 games as a Ranger thus far, 6 of them being goals.
Spooner has 3 points in 23 games as an Oiler.

In fairness, his defensive numbers have absolutely caved since the trade, but his results haven't... yet.
Oilers/Rangers
Mins 193:46/308:06
CF 53.7%/40.3%
FF 55.1%/37.4%
SCF 54.5%/34.1%
HDCF 52.2%/26.8%
On-ice GF 3/11
On-ice GA 4/15
Goal share 42.9%/42.3%
What's keeping his goal share results from cratering is that his line is getting a lot of favourable bounces. Of the 26 HD chances for he has been on-ice for as Ranger, his team has converted on 8 of them for a conversion rate of 30.8% (!!). Meanwhile, of the 71 HD chances against he's been on-ice for, his opposition has converted on just 6 for a conversion rate of just 8.5% (!!!!).
For context, average conversion rates of high-danger chances sit ~20% (iirc) dependent on the year. Might be higher this year as a result of the shrinking of the padding and subsequent increase in scoring. |

Luck is certainly playing a factor. Yet I can’t help but wonder, why do so many ex-Oilers experience this uptick in luck the moment they leave Edmonton? |

Because our coaches and the culture of our organization (and perhaps the whole city) don't appreciate the value that scorers can bring outside of the top-6 and, as such, leads to the team throwing away and giving up on a disproportional number of otherwise useful and potentially effective players. This is exacerbated by an unwillingness to respect the positive impact a player has on the team's results across a mutli-varied analysis in favour of invisible- but still valuable- characteristics
A list of examples of this such organizational failure could likely yield a somwhat competitive team. Names like Petry, Cogliano, Pitlick, Aberg, Schultz and even Eberle come to mind; some of which I take full ownership of souring on unfairly despite results, as well. |

Another thing is unrealistic expectations were placed on a few of these guys....Cogliano was positioned to be a main piece of the team but that’s not him but he has had success as a “depth” player on the Ducks....MacT announced that Jultz was the next Coffey like wtf....no chance from the beginning and no hope to live up to the hype....off to the Pens he goes and thanks to the work of the coaches (Gonchar) they were able to build him back up with no real pressure to perform.....we consistently fail these guys by putting them into positions they clearly aren’t ready for then poop on them when they don’t succeed.....Dubnyk is another example....I fear the same might end up happening with Puju....this management group has no clue as to what they are doing

I'm firmly of the mind that a complete and comprehensive reshaping of the organization is the only way to fix this and it starts with Katz. The culture of the team has been corrupted to such a point where minor tweaks here and there aren't gonna suffice. For me, it's a foregone conclusion that Puljujarvi is screwed. |

What’s funny is when MacT got fired from being the gm that he got to keep a position with the team along with a lot of other people that should have been shown the door....don’t just flip flop positions get these guys out of here....they are a major factor in why the Oilers have been a losing culture for years....but nope Katz just figures that after all of these years he still needs these people around....you might be right about Puju....no matter how much I think time with the Condors could fix him I have come to the conclusions that they won’t do that.....actually when Chia said that Puju had success in the AHL and now he needs to do it in the NHL (he barely played any games down there you (frank)ing idiot it was a very small sample size) that really should have tipped me off....so because his job is on the line he has to ruin Pujus development because he is desperate.....when GMs start doing desperate things to stay employed that’s when you should perhaps pull the trigger....it’s no longer about the success of the team but saving your job....this management team are all (frank)ing idiots |

Agreed. An organization beset by a horrid mix of incompetence and arrogance. |
