they have good goaltending depth and a decent defense when healthy as well. seems you can survive with poor offensive depth when that happens. look at nashville. yikes at that forward core. - daeth
That they do.. Plus, I like DeBrusk, a lot.. But I don't like Boston all that much. So, I wanted to make fun of them a little.. |

Your team allowed Sean Kuraly a 3pt night. Let that sink in Patty boy |

Stats don’t matter because Gardiner has good stats and makes a mistake every now and then. - Santo_44
I wonder if there's a stat that correlates turnovers with the level of danger of the opportunity that the turnover leads to... seems to me that Gardiner's brain cramps generally lead to very dangerous opportunities for the opposition.

The Bruins have the league's best 5-on-5 defense. Something like 1.8ga/60.
And that's with injuries that have decimated our back end. - RickJames77
I have no idea how Chara is still effective, he just turned 90 years old. |

It happens but not enough for people to lose their minds as much as they do.
If the Leafs lost Gardiner the defense would be (frank)ing awful.
It’s funny how nobody complains about Dermott. He’s made as many stupid giveaways as Gardiner has this year against worse competition and gets a free pass. |

For any of you with a subscription to the Athletic, check out a story by Jesse Granger (Golden Knights writer) about embedding tracking technology in the puck and sweaters.
Man, it's going to be redonkulously interesting.
Right near the end of the article, they talk about setting up a virtual reality view, so that you can see (in almost real time) what individual players are seeing as they skate up the ice. |

The thing about Gardiner is he doesn't just turn over the puck.
Very often (although, admittedly, not as much as a few years ago) he hangs onto the puck too long, panics, and then dishes it to a teammate who isn't in a good position to take a pass. So the teammate is instantly pounced upon by two opposition players, coughs it up, Gardiner is out of position, puck ends up in back of the net.
But hey, it wasn't Gardiner's turnover, right? |

I second this...it's going to be fascinating. She said that it should be fully functioning and in every arena next year right?
I also found it interesting that players complained that the puck was too bouncy. Do you think they would've even noticed if they didn't know? Seems like a placebo effect if you ask me. |

All this is said without realizing how elite he is at skating the puck out of trouble.
You have to take the odd bad stuff with the good with him. The Leafs D would be horrible without him.

It's crazy how under the radar Jeremy "Career AHLer" Bracco has become among fans. I've a feeling if he was on another team, (say Timpa Tampa), there'd be a lot more hype surrounding the kid. - walshyleafsfan
He's having a great year for the Marlies.
He made an incredible play a few games ago to set up Rosen on a goal. Fantastic.
Also, Rosen should be the first d-man called up. |

with all hands on deck they've actually become a good possession team not that anyone has noticed apparently lol
would be fun to see them start winning every game again though - daeth
well Andersen missing 3 weeks hurts the win/loss column

definitely
edit: too lazy to check the stats but it does feel like their offense has taken a dip too. probably more luck based than anything. |

I do realize it. He's also excellent with bringing the puck over the opponent's blue line.
As much as I hate the guy's gaffes, he is going to leave a huge hole when he leaves after this year (sadly, we will not offer him a new contract - or at least one he will sign). |
