I’m actually not a fan of this new look top PP unit. We’re absolutely shorthanded goal prone as it is. Voracek is getting shots through from the point but doesn’t have a strong point shot. Ghost is useless if he isn’t being used as a power play quarterback because he sure as hell isn’t dominating at even strength.

No disrespect to Coots but he never played the slot like Schenn or Hartnell by staying patient and planting himself, waiting for a Giroux feed. I don’t expect Simmonds to do much better there because Simmonds doesn’t have a heavy shot. I think the top unit should have been Giroux, Voracek, Ghost, Simmonds and JvR all along.

We'll see how it goes. I would consider putting Sanhiem on PP1 and moving Coots to PP2. There is definitely a concern to be had about shorties becoming an issue with that 5 forward unit.
