That's how I feel. He's a big kid too. Bigger forwards take time.
- johndewar

Yup. I'd much rather take a shot on Puljujarvi then take a late 1st from a playoff bound team.

Maybe but it's not a haul and it's not amazing. It's taking a chance on a still very young player who might or might not put it together.
- MJL

It’s better than a late 1st round pick from a contender. His potential alone could be great. When he entered the draft scouts said he could have been a 1st overall in another draft with how loaded that year was. He was labeled an elite power forward prospect.

Ohhhh that's right, that's the moment JvR started to play better...when he had a sit down with the coach

I bet the coach told JvR he was playing great, loved his effort and to just keep doing what you are doing.

Im taling about Gordon. Hakstol used them occasionally. There are some times where he should have but at the same time I dont think it would have made much of a difference at the time
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Oh my god, I know who you’re talking about. You’re the only one confused here.

If he were already a Flyers prospect we'd be sky high on him. Patrick isn't setting the world on fire yet either, doesn't mean he isn't a huge chip to have.

Maybe but without knowing who is going to be picked, no way of knowing. What if he busts? Is it still better?

I would take that chance any day of the week for a 30 year old UFA Simmonds, already submitted paperwork to league before I hang up.

Obviously Jori Lehtera and Andrew MacDonald sparked the victory tonight.

This when you start to lose it. I think you're right about a lot of things about JvR but have to admit he is on a roll offensively right now and has put a good string of games together. He does have some good qualities to his game.

I'll add, which will make you happy, I haven't seen JvR once skate as hard on the back check as he did to get to that puck for the EN.

20 year old 4th overall pick for a rental who we're moving on from. It would be a good deal.
- hereticpride

I think although Talbot has blown it’s a fantastic haul ...wonder if more involved?

I saw Lehtera once, how many shifts did he play?

I bet he played because other teams wanted proof he wasn't dead. TMZ had Jori eating a pack of pop rocks and drinking a soda.

Weise was all out of veteran presence. He is now in a 2 or 3 game veteran presence refractory period.

He has...the key to JvR right now is he is SKATING. Take away the goals and he is giving effort. You can't blame Weal for not skating.

What if Simmonds played his heart out tonight bc he knew it was his last in orange and black lol
- arichardson22

Fair well Simmonds. You had the heart like Vinny Prospal, the skill like Jody Shelley and the skating like an over the hill Vincent LeCavalier. Try to avoid as many tomatoe tosses you can from grateful Flyers fans on your way out.

Finnish Stringer Bell got some run late from what I saw.

For a UFA to be who we are likely moving on from, I think it would be worth the risk. Bigger guys take time and he’d fit right in with the age group on our team. A late 1st pick could never be an NHL player As well so it’s pretty equal taking him vs the late round section imo

The only time JvR was skating hard on anyone of his goals tonight is when he was skating for an empty net....

I think it's a couple of things and it is definitely skating. I think he's getting healthier and stronger and acclimating to his linemates. He is still though a very one dimensional player.

It’s puck luck and linemates. There is nothing supernatural going on here.

Well, you don't want to blow your entire wad of veteran presence.

He's gotta save some for the Bruins.

I've been saying it since he's been rumored to be in the block. Puljujarvi checks all the boxes for what kind of guys they need to add to this team. If not a deal centered on Simmonds then something else. I want that kid here.
