Leave it to the flyers to be absolute trash in a year where there is no generational talent to be had
- bulet13

Idk Elias Petterson looks pretty damn good to me.

Well how often does Crosby or McDavid come along...not often.

Would have been fine with an Eichel, Barkov, Landeskog, Seguin.....

Im excited to see PP restructuring. Think its long over due. I know it worked well in the past but It just seems like there is too much perimeter work and its relient on 2 guys. Pressure Giroux and Ghost. That seems to be the opposing teams game plan. Voracek is not dangerous enough and you know exactly where simmonds and jvr will be. They arent going to move. Coots for the one timer has been shown breifly but never really seen him have enough room out there to be an option for a pass

Why wasn't Myers called up to sub in for him? You claim there must be reasons why, but you can't come up with any. How strange.
- Feanor

Because there is no need to. Frolin is the 7th D-man. He was brought in for an injured player. All of their games over the last 3 weeks has either been at home or 3 hours drive away. If there was a need for another defenseman they could of had one available in short order.

Myers and Morin will get their time after the TDL. Until then the Flyers have to make it look like they are trying and showcase any Vets they may want to trade.

Hey fellas I have some bad news to share with fellow Flyer fans.
Jordan Weal's family is from the area of Saskatchewan that I do a lot of travelling to.

A buddy I have there says:
Jordan Weal's Uncle said that Giroux and Voracek are the problem. Coach has zero control over them. Weal asked for the trade. Nolan PAtrick wants out as well. Weal says that Giroux is a total bumhole on the bench and in the dressing room.

- jduran10

Weal asked for the trade?

I can’t believe anyone wanted him.

At the time Nico and Nolan were 1+2 on every list, in hindsight Petterson was the best player available.
- Hughjass

In hindsight because Pettersson has 42 points in 38 career games? Does half a season dictate a career?

Eric Lindros was no question the best player available in 91, in hindsight Ray Whitney had the better career. Is that how it works?

I heard that Joey, who lives two blocks over and three block down from Jordan's cousin's former third grade teacher, said that Claude Giroux was a big fat meanypants and that Jake Voracek combs his hair with a porkchop.

Actually that last part is probably true because Wayne Simmonds said so.

Most or all of those teams have failed to get to the next level and are perpetually fringe playoff teams. Getting those players did not elevate them to contenders.

Would love to have Pettersson with his skill, but first season and has been injured 3 times and been on IR twice.

I feel sorry for Nolan Patrick.

It must suck to be a bust at age 20, with 111 games under his belt.

This is why the Flyers should of traded Couturier when he turned 20 for a 3rd round pick...man that 3rd round pick could of been great.

Remember when Giroux was 20...he was still in juniors What a bust-aroo

All kidding aside. What is going on with Patrick cant be viewed in a vacuum. Every single young player on this team has taken a step back, including two we thought were past such things in Ghost and Provorov. Even Konecny.

Confidence can be a tricky thing. Good confidence or no confidence can be contagious. Right now no one has any confidence in themselves or the team, that starts from the vets all the way down to the lowest rookie. But it effects younger players the most. (partly why I am not all that enamored with calling all these Phantoms up)

Patrick will be fine. Konecny will be fine. Ghost will be fine. Provorov will be fine. I have a feeling Fletcher is going to do his best to clean out the veteran "cancer" in the locker room. Whoever that may be.

But in the meantime we just have to ride it out.

I try to reserve judgement until at least age 25 on a player.

Nolan Patrick will be fine.

We saw how good his play was in the 2nd half of last season.

We saw glimpses of this play on the West Coast trip and he hasn’t been that guy since. To me, it’s just a confidence issue which can be fixed.

It really seems confidence is a major issue for a large portion of the team this year whether it be a young guy or veteran.

Edit: Leight lol

Who's to say Patrick still can't be added in that group you listed in the future? Because points? I know for fact Barkov and Seguin had worst rookie years point production wise. You also selected a few #2 picks overall that also struggled in their first couple years.

Yeah the vacuum is real. How the team plays and success heavily dictates how good a players numbers are The same can be said for young drafted players, just because a young player sees early production doesn't mean that would translate the same on another team.

What does that have to do with us getting Nolan Patrick? If we got Jack Eichel we would certainly be a better team. I don't dislike Nolan but don't pretend those guys i named wouldn't elevate our team.

Nope. Maybe you can give your thoughts on why Folin played the last six games even as he got torn to shreds by opposing offenses.

I often wonder if this the only hockey forum in the world where the idea of promoting AHL prospects who have excelled at that level to play ahead of mediocre vets is seen as being controversial. Especially for a team that has no chance of making the playoffs.

- Feanor

That's not what is being seen as controversial. What's seen as controversial is second guessing everything the team does. Under multiple coaches and GM's just this season.

You're right. Playing Claude Giroux as much as they have needs to be questioned.

Whoever said they should trade Couturier for a third round pick cmon man. If you are going to argue a point back it up a little better than that.

To be honest, the book is still out on Patrick (obviously), I'm not worried. My original comment was in reference to you saying there are few Mcdavid/Crosby's. My point is many really good players have been taken at #2 recently. We shall see what Patrick becomes.

Were those players available when the Flyers selected Patrick?
