Whoever said they should trade Couturier for a third round pick cmon man. If you are going to argue a point back it up a little better than that.

Were those players available when the Flyers selected Patrick?

I try to reserve judgement until at least age 25 on a player.
- Tfaehner

It really depends on the player, how they play, what skill set they have and what role is expected of them.

I tend to look at the growth of the player between 23-25 and that normally becomes a good measuring stick.

If you, and I know you're not, are still waiting to see if Laughton can become a top line center that ship has sailed.

Can he just become a solid top 9 guy ? I have enough faith in our organizational depth st center.

RE: Nolan Patrick

He wouldn't be the first big center who developed slowly.

Joe Thornton's 2nd year

81GP 16G 25A

He didn't become a part of the Hart Trophy conversation until he hit 23.

What I'm saying is maybe we should wait until the kid is old enough to drink before we start adjudicating his career.

Then again I'm sure the same people called Couturier a bust too, so things look good for NoPa.

I think Patrick has better offensive skills and athleticism than Coots. Just saying.

In hindsight because Pettersson has 42 points in 38 career games? Does half a season dictate a career?

Eric Lindros was no question the best player available in 91, in hindsight Ray Whitney had the better career. Is that how it works?

- Glak18

Of course it doesn’t. I’m a huge Patrick fan and expect him to have a solid career. However I would say the Canucks got the guy with the best potential of being an elite player from that draft.

Hindsight is wonderful. Very few of the "experts" had Pettersson in the top five. Most had him about ninth or so.

I wanted him when I thought our original pick was 10-13.

There is a chance Pettersson could become that, but I will wait until I see multiple seasons of consistency. Just like there has been young players who started off slow to start their careers there has also been players are jump out of the gate running only to fizzle later.

That's where I had him and hoped he would drop to the Flyers or had them trading up a bit before the draft lottery. Not many at all had him drafted that high, Vancouver took a chance and it has paid off so far, but many teams have done that and it didn't work out.

And some have. Columbus and Montreal have gone against popular opinion and had success. Than theres Tampa who went drouin. Imagine if they had taken seth Jones!?

Also looking back on 2015 full draft. Holy crap is it talented.

Only player on our team better then Drouin is Giroux... stat wise. Voracek has like 2 more points but less goals so......

Well folks, tonight Flyers game features 6 time all-star Captain Claude Giroux with rookie sensation Carter Hart getting the start in net. We should see some new power play units per Head Coach Scott Gordon. There’s bound to be some internal competition and pride on the line as it’s veteran forwards on unit one versus the blossoming youth on the second unit. We should continue to see that much improved penalty kill. Plus Andrew MacDonald returns to the lineup. Another interesting story line, new GM Chuck Fletcher’s team will be taking on his former employer franchise, the Minnesota Wild.
And there you have it. Let’s go Flyers!

But teams can only draft based on a player's abilities and how they can develop them farther. No team can predict career stats or achievements.

Hell if a player came out again with the same abilities of Alex Daigle with the competitiveness of Rinaldo he would be drafted #1 most years.

Drouin in the playoffs a few years ago was an absolute monster and was Tampa's best player.
