Cut him and send him to Rochester pay him to pay there. at least than someone else can play in Buffalo. at least we freed up a roster spot.

Agreed. In two years trade his contract to Seattle and pay them to take it

Detroit didn’t seem to suffer letting their prospects develop in Grand Rapids till they were 21-22 years old. Rochester going on a run will be good for those guys. We haven’t won anything NHL/AHL wise in a long time. Why not take the chance. Smith, Nylander, Guhle might make this team marginally better but is it worth it ?

So AHL playoff experience matters,
but in the NHL it doesn’t?

I’d give a team Nylander today to take 21’s contract.
0 teams would do it

come on, they are not making the playoffs this year. That dream died when Botts refused to do something when we had some points to give up.

A top 10 pick plus our prospects playing meaningful hockey this year makes the Sabres a better hockey team next year and beyond. Cheer for a playoff shellacking from the Lightning or Caps all you want. Us getting smoked on national television will be more memorable then sucking for 35 more games and getting a piece that can make us Tampa-lite in a few years.

Still a lot of games left
I don’t trust that MTL or NyI are for real

But i was more commenting on his contradiction than i was saying we’d make the playoffs

i'm not arguing that, it's a tough situation because of money and term and i'm preparing myself for two more years of him on the big club

There’s A LOT more big upsets in the playoffs than there are teams who jump from the teens into the top3 with the lotto

It’s not like i want us to go after rentals,
or guys that are just “ok”

If a player that can help us now, and in the future, is available...
I’m more than ok with trading a 1st + for someone we KNOW is a good player

Allow those that want to vent, vent.
They have an absolute right to do so.
There is a tremendous amount of frustration with this franchise right now, and it is only building.
Condescending tones to those that are clearly frustrated doesn't make you any better, trust me.
Please remember this moving forward.

I'd rather pay him to not play for 4 years than pay him to not play for 8. There's not a ton of cap savings to buy him out. And there's no actual savings.
- Wetbandit1

What would it take to rid ourselves in a trade?
Our 8th over pick this year?
2 million a year for 4 years retained

The expansion draft is 2 years away.

We are lightyears better than we were last year. We were never expected to be a playoff team this year. We have an arse load of first round picks. We have 3 of the best young players in the league. Our dead weight will be gone in the next 2 years
