it’s all perspective. When Vantel was a boy the prevailing art form was tracing your hand on a cave wall. Maybe a woolly mammoth or two.

Chicago's first cup , they were supposed to lose to the Flames in the first round , and were for sure going to be smoked by the Nucks in the 2nd, how did that go? what did that playoff experience do for them?
- onesmallleap

I think you’re lost between playoff experience being as valuable as pure talent. In 2010 the Hawks had Keith, Seabrook, Campbell, Byfuglien and Hjalmarsson as their defence and Keith had 69 points not to mention he won the Norris Trophy that year.

They also had Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp and a plethoras of depth behind those guys. The only playoff experience Toews, Kane, Keith or Seabrook had was the previous year when they’d made the playoffs for the first time.

I’m sure that helped but just being really deep and talented is why they won. Not because they had a bunch of playoff experience, because those guys didn’t. Do you honestly think the Canucks are deep and talented? That the experience for three guys making the playoffs (Horvat, Pettersson and Boeser) should outweigh what’s best for the TEAM?

We’re a Norris caliber defenseman and a couple top six players away from being truly competitive. Just my opinion but the draft pick is way more important than the playoffs at this point for the Canucks.

Goaltending.

I think Chicago won in 2010 with Antti Niemi in net, when you have allot of run support you don’t need all-star goaltending. But it is important to have a starter, not a backup guy like we have.

I am usually against Markstrom but he is turning into a quality starter. Imo he earned the right this year to called our number one. He is not a backup. I have to disagree with you.

- onesmallleap

Lol of all teams the Canucks are showing that top paid at any position isn’t your best

We pay 500k more than the Canucks for our two goalies lol

I agree he’s played well and looks to be a legit starter right now but I think we need to see that for more than the month and a half he’s played well to justify your statement. He’s looked good though.

Yes they won in spite of Niemi agreed...however they were a remarkably deep club rookies and all:

Bolland
Brouwer
Buff
Campbell
Hjallmarsson
Hossa
Kane
Keith
Kopeckny
Ladd
Seabrook
Sharp
Toews
Versteeg

on and on...

We have Horvat Pettersson and Boeser...and Marky lol.

I'd say we have a little more ways to go than a top Dman and few top 6 forwards to get into the league top 10.
