Yes they won in spite of Niemi agreed...however they were a remarkably deep club rookies and all:
Bolland
Brouwer
Buff
Campbell
Hjallmarsson
Hossa
Kane
Keith
Kopeckny
Ladd
Seabrook
Sharp
Toews
Versteeg
on and on...
We have Horvat Pettersson and Boeser...and Marky lol.
I'd say we have a little more ways to go than a top Dman and few top 6 forwards to get into the league top 10. - LordHumungous
You're excluding a couple.
We still have Tanev
We still have Edler
Beagle is a proven playoff performer
Ladd had 39 points in 2010 for example which is close to what JV is on pace for, and less than what Baertschi would have playing the full year.
Obviously we're not deep by any means but you are exaggerating a bit |

Asset management ....gotcha 😉
There is a difference between signing a guy from another team who goes to free agency and resigning your best D man right now |

What are you talking about, Hughes is already the best defenseman to ever play the game. |

I honestly didn't expect this team to be anywhere near a playoff spot, but so many struggling/bad teams have kept them close.
If this team makes it, then so be it, will they go far, f*ck no, will they make it, I still doubt it and still believe like a couple others have been saying, top 10 pick. - Reubenkincade
They need to be better than 3 of the 5 (4 of 6) teams:
Arizona
Anaheim
Edmonton
Minnesota
Dallas (Colorado)
They could actually beat out the Pacific teams! I'm starting to believe.
I still think the Central takes both wild card spots though. |

I’ll agree Hughes has more hype league wide ....but in here ...OJ was going to be the poop |

I can't remember anyone here even wanting OJ, most people wanted Tkachuk or Sergachev |

lol not really depth is how champions are made it is what it is.
Tanev Edler are not the 2010 versions of Keith Seabrook.
But I'll give you Beagle...that guy is money lol. |

I worked that Mem.Cup closely. OJ was the talk of the whole tourney even over Tkachuk and Marner at times. It was the right pick for the right time as we needed D. He'll be fine once healthy. |

Makes me think of how Bouchard is looked at now. Reasonably safe pick to be a top 4 guy but not a super high ceiling. I hope he proves me wrong though |

"I saw you that last game, you (frank)ing suck!" - Max Domi to Mike Matheson#Canucks #Habs
Canucks front office should send Domi a gift card for Le Trèfle in Montreal with a note saying "Beers on us"
With Petey - 9-7 Canucks
W/out Petey - 1-0 Canucks |

I am not quite there yet, as Marwood says, let's see where they are at end of Januàry.
Even then, they are still a long ways off from being contenders and need to continue building.
This team could be like the Devils of last season, play well then drop right off the map in the following season. |

not a ton of Vancouver Canuck stuff in Friedmans 31 thoughts today.
Canucks are rumored to be interested in Michael Ferland
Oilers were once heavily interested in acquiring Jake Virtanen (although he isn't sure if he is the type of player they are after today) |

This report from Chris Nichols, also says Canucks want Ferland❤
Now, from what I’ve heard about the Hurricanes and Ferland, they were not close in negotiations, just not really on the same page. I think he gets dealt and guys, I think there’s a ton of interest in him. I think Edmonton would be one of those teams. I think Pittsburgh would be one of those teams. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vancouver, for example, is one of those teams, though I wonder if they wait until the offseason when he’s a free agent. |

lol Could you imagine if by some miracle we met the Flames in the first round with Ferland on our roster and he did exactly to them what he did to us.

honestly, just from what I remember of that series, is that Ferland wasn't really much more than a 4th line grinder. Its pretty crazy to see him work his way up the lineup in calgary to be on the first line, traded, now on CAR's first/second line and producing like crazy. |

I'd guess Ferland is what management hoped Virtanen would be, a strong power forward, pain in the ass, with 20-20 potential. I'd bet he's looking for Evander Kane money though |
