All quiet on Edler contract front. Polled some agents today who feel Edler could cost the #Canucks more than 5 million on 3-4 year deal now but he will get more on July 1st. The lockout year will be big in Edler deal, agents feel his camp will want big signing bonus that year.
I sincerely hope he doesn't get that term. He clearly likes Van so make him take a hometown discount if he wants to stay - NorthNuck
If he is looking for big bucks and long term I will drive him to the airport.

I am not stoked about this draft at all so no I wouldn't - VANTEL
As much as I'd like OJ to work out Hughes or that kukko fella might be a bigger piece for us |

I think kakko is going to be the better player... for some reason Hughes smells like an Alexander daigle/ nail yakapov to me. Not sure his Jr game is gonna fly in the pro environment |

4 years isnt so bad. we'll need a veteran presence on the backend (albeit could be anyone). the cap rises. he'll regress a bit but it wont be an albatross like loui.
bit like brooks orpik in washington

Hughes has dominated collage for years... against men, he's number one with a bullet. |

Agreed. The second injury was just an accident. No need to go out for blood. That said, if the Canucks want to finish their checks on him the next time they play Montreal I wouldn’t complain.
As for last night, I thought it was kind of silly. It’s better than nothing, I guess, but if you’re not going to respond when it happens then what’s the point? No one is going to go easy on Pettersson because they might get their stick slashed out of their hands two months later. It’s a little like the first regular season game against Boston after the SCF. Yeah, the Canucks won, and it was a big win as far as regular season games go, but it’s not like Boston handed them the cup after. - CubanBuffet
I thought about it and it wasn’t retribution for the Matheson hit as it was about telling Petterson we didn’t have your back that night and we screwed up. We are sorry and this is us showing you we got your back now we will be there to go after a guy And let everyone know you can’t touch Elias. Maybe it’s Canuck coloured glasses but it’s what it felt like to me |

I don't know who said what 9 years ago.
I didn't say OJ was a bust , I said it was a bad pick for 5 overall - VANTEL
I think you are missing my point.... being don't give up too early. Its not about who said what and the word bust. I'm not even sure if you were one of the people. Dial down the ego a tad Vantel.

Isn't this his first year in college? I thought he was ushl or national team development program last year. Too tired to fact check right now lol
Guess I'm not too tired. Yep he's not even a college guy yet. Us national development program |

They don’t need to deliver a message to EP via a hockey game that he’s not even playing in. They can literally tell him that whenever and then back it up on the ice.
Hitchcock said the Oilers are a team that responds to outside stimuli. If their stars get pushed around one game, suddenly they come out swinging the next, and then revert to the same old after that. That’s all this was: the Canucks responding to criticism from fans and media for their lack of response three months ago. But what happens the next time someone goes after EP? It won’t be long before it happens again. |

Either player looks great ...depends if they want a C or W. The brother thing with Hughes might just be something special here, with both more likely to spend their careers here.
I really feel we need to build D, but if they don't feel he's panning out and a deal comes for the 1oa or 2oa then hey ya.
Then maybe ufa D might come in due to it |

Yes. Lots of great players developed slow. The isles gave up on Bert 4 years in.
D Definitely take longer to develop as well.....usually. OJ has had limiting injuries, so it's not surprising on his setbacks. He shouldn't have such high expectations with such serious injuries |
