Aberg has been scratched for 4 games in a row now....I’m feeling about 17% better about him being waived now

I would enjoy their losing streak so much more if they still weren’t tied for a WC spot |

Lucic, nurse for nylander - herecomesGUMP
The Leafs are in a bind with Nylander. It probably is not the right time to be trading him. Obviously aside from the "toughness" that Lucic contract is horrible. Nurse would be a welcome addition, but I think the Leafs need to not rush into this and do anything until they know what they have there.

There is zero entertainment value in that for us though. |

It is funny tho....before Nylander signed he was the second coming and once he came back the Leafs were going to win the cup....now today even tho he didn’t have a training camp or pre season and missed all of those games lots of fans are poopting on him and demands he gets traded I’m not trying to start poop but I can understand why some stars don’t want anything to do with playing in Toronto |

Down 3-1 with less then 2 minutes to go....unless a miracle happens it will be 12 straight....yet they are still in a WC spot |

It would be hard to live under a microscope. Everytime you frank up its front page news, where some American markets you are lucky to get the stats in the win loss cloumn. |

I won’t say that for all fans in Toronto but yeah it’s gotta be very tough at times to play in that market

In any other year they would be....at worst with 12 straight losses they are 2 points out....this year in the west is just so bizarre....the Blues after tonight are 2 points out with at least a game in hand

I don’t know....for as bad as Lucic is he still gets cheered on the ice regardless.....Gardner isn’t close to being on the level of Lucic and he got his share of boos in that loss last night

Defensemen seem to always be the targets though. If I recall correctly Justin Schultz was pretty much run out of town. Forwards make mistakes all night but when a defenseman makes one its glaring.
They estimated about a thousand idiots booing Gardiner but because Leafs fans are so quiet it sounded really loud. |

I’m not arguing the Edmonton market is easy to play in at all.....another poopty market to play in I would think is Montreal as far as fan bases goes

At least they boo the whole team though. Players seem to really enjoy playing there. That’s hard for me to say because I hate them. |

I think what's really toxic in Edmonton is the media culture more than the fans- though they get riled up by said media. Unlike Toronto where there's at least a somewhat greater appreciation for skill, perceived hard work is the pinnacle of fan appreciation in Edmonton.
You can see it in how Sportsnet and all the broadcasters talk about guys like Lucic and Hendricks and whatnot. Even the slightest positive thing they do is highlighted en masse while similarly minor but more effective "micro-plays" are completely ignored with players like Schultz, Petry and Eberle.
In conjunction with that, you have a posse of raging idiots (Spector and I think it's Matheson or Staples but might be someone else) spearheading a print media culture of derision and tearing skilled players apart for the tiniest of flaws. This part Toronto has in spades. |
