I’d love that but that’s a bit of a stretch I think. Depends on if Stone ever coming back would factor into it. Plus he’s a left winger.

Nobody is taking Neal at this point. Currently, he is an Albatross - unless he gets on a hot streak and re-establishes himself as a valuable commodity. We are stuck with him. I still maintain hope that he will get on a roll as the playoffs approach - or in the Playoffs.

Chiapet’s an Idiot we could probably package Clyde with Squilly and get that 1st overall!

It's been a couple of years since he moved a former 1st overall pick, it's probably about time...

Neal, Prout and conditional 3rd
McDavid 50% salary retained and the firing of Gene Principe

Interesting point from flamesnation.ca on future cap space.

It will be a tight squeeze with the signings of Tkachuk, Bennett and Ritter +

Gillies will be on a one way next year, and he’s poopting his pants in the A currently. Not even close to a capable backup in the NHL next year.

So 8 to Tkachuk, 4 to Rittich, 3 to Bennett, 850 to Mang, 850 to Hath and do we try to resign Smith for 1.25 for next year?

Already more than the 16.75 predicted by Ryan..

Guaranteed Frolik is gone before we have to sign anyone.

I think the Rangers can get better off other teams - if we wanted to include Neal.

Was going to say that too. Also, with the emergence of Valimaki, Kylington and Andersson, maybe they buyout Stone and save 1.5 million. BT really needs to stop his UFA acquisitions...more often than not they're buyout candidates a year or two later.

Agreed - Neal and Ryan are way overpaid, and they were even when they were signed based on past production. How do you expect a 31-year-old to maintain past production. Those contracts combined with Stone (also a bad UFA signing, even at the time) are killing the Flames chances to add valuable pieces to a really strong core, or have the flexibility for a good rental or two...
