I think this might be the worst game I've ever seen him play. He's having a Conner Sheary game. Can't pass, shoot and randomly falling over. It's like he's drunk.

If anyone needs a time to recharge the batteries it's Geno. Thankfully he will get that after this road trip.

Wasn't thinking about that.....but yeah, this is very true. Get Hornie back after the AS break. Schultz soon to follow and hopefully JR can swap out Brass and a D for a couple of forwards.

And Brass with a nice shot on that goal. Should get some attention from other teams.

Didn’t get to watch the game due to a late beer league game but I see JJ is holdin down the fort as usual with 3 goals against. Did he make any poopty plays or did he just happen to be on the ice for them?

You could at least TRY to pretend to fill Edmonton's needs a bit. Instead, "Peter Chiarelli [insert mention of his idiocy] *long, wet fart noise*".

Nah because Chiarelli is gonna do what he does best. And we all know what that is.

Lol yeah I can only remember the one play where Geno got female doged on the wall and Hertl cut to the middle and JJ was attempting to defend him and lost his stick. I was like what the (frank) just happened?!

I have an idea, let’s trade all our bad (unpopular) players for all your good ones. In my opinion there is no need to run Brassard or Maatta out of town. There are other problems with this team, namely key injuries and something isn’t right with Malkin.

Pittsburgh: win all around. Upgraded at everything
LA: not a great deal, not a smart deal, get younger but worse
Edm: lets give the other teams our good players and take back the crap the others teams don’t want

I decided to sleep instead of watching past 10 minutes into the game...

Do we just suck again? Burn it down and trade Malkin time?

Once he does a good deal, we will absolutely let him sit at the grown ups table.

It’s not like EDM has a history of making bad deals or anything.

There is one big number that would make me say no to this deal immediately:

18:35

That's Carter's average ice time per game this year. And for the majority of his career, he's been in the 17:50 - 19 minutes per game range.

THAT.WON'T.WORK.HERE. I would not give up a ton of assets for a mid 30's guy with an expensive cap hit, play him 3-4 less minutes per night on the 3rd line, and scratch my head why he isn't producing enough offense.

That's Brassard 2.0 tactics right there.

One goal he was on for his stick was “cleverly” taken away from him.

Overall the Pens just played a pretty terrible game with a side of bad.

Yes....It was a giant bag of ass last night. Crosby and Letang even had a couple of bad moments. Geno was insanely bad. I don't think I've seen him play worse.

The only positive was Brass had a couple of good plays and maybe his value inched up.

Carter is extremely versatile though. He would be a large improvement on our PP2, would see plenty of time at 4v4, he’s a great penalty killer and is good on face offs. I think adding Carter would allow us to scramble our forward lines more often. Loading up more at the end of periods. Roll out Crosby, Malkin, and Guentzel only to follow it up with Carter, Kessel and Pearson then if there’s still time Sheahan comes out with Simon and Rust or Hornqvist.

We’ve done this with Brassard, the problem with Brass is that he can’t kill penalties like Carter can AND there’s an obvious lack of chemistry when he is put on the wing. Carter has played both center and wing. I think it’s a great fit, I just don’t think he accepts the trade and I don’t think the proposal works for anyone but Pitt. I think it needs to be sweetened a bit

If I had to guess, the Pens will bring in a 3C that nobody here had on their radar. Aside from maybe Kessel during the JR era, the players that JR has picked up were not players rumored in any of the mills.

JJ was rumored only a few days before the deadline and that's the closest I can remember.

EDIT: Brass was another player rumored for a bit, so I guess my argument it moot lol.

FYI, I'm not a defender of this site, but I do remember TIOPS bringing up Brass before other outlets.

Fair points, but not a guarantee. It better be something considered with any trade to replace Brassard if JR does so..

I do believe Carter kills penalties more than Brass so there is at least that.

How about Carter and Muzzin for Brassard, Maatta, and a 1st rounder. Brassard gets a shot to audition as the 2C in LA or showcase himself for next year (or LA can flip him like Ottawa did with Cole), LA gets a young ‘useful’ defender, but they get what they need in 1) a 1st rounder which they can keep or trade at the draft and 2) if they don’t keep Brassard then they can finally dip into free agency next year with some cap space. Or maybe Pitt does a 4th and a conditional 2nd which becomes a 1st if they make it to the cup final

Good. I'd try to milk a 1st from them, but then settle on a 2nd + a prospect.

Then move a JO-based package for a 3C.
