You know how many times Babcock has said “we were out worked” “we didn’t show up” “we didn’t put the work in” “they worked a lot harder than us” “they just plain out worked us” Over half the post games since Christmas Babs has said these words.

Thats a great thing to say, puts everything on the team not individual players.

Kinda like when we kids and I asked my mom to pick which drawing was her favorite between mine and my brothers, and she always said they are both my favorite.

from the twitter
Leafs Goaltender SV% Thru 12/6: 0.923 (1st)
Leafs Goaltender SV% Since 12/6: 0.891 (26th)

but the coach needs to say stuff like that.

I like the reuniting of the hyman Matthews nylander line.

If I think back, I read a lot about how Andersen was one of the best in the league, vezina discussion.. one of the best GSAA in the league...

if you lose that type of goaltending... its harder to win games

weird

I like it.

It'll be tested against the best team in the league, let's hope Babs doesn't switch them back after 5 minutes in the 1st.

I assume that could happen when your #1 goalie is out for 3 weeks..

I see some progress though... On instagram, it's "Leafs are willing to trade their 1st rd pick for defenseive help..

Moving off of forwards to draft picks, is progress, no?

- PatC80

I'd say so.

Leafs should trade a forward, not picky who, for Tanev, any Hurricane dman, Gudbranson, Severson, any Duck dman, any Blues dman, Seabrook, any San Diego Gulls dman, Barrie, Kronewall, DeKeyser, Muzzin, Martinez, Trouba, a Preds dman, Dumba, Chychrun, one of the best ever crop of rookie dmen in Philly, one of the dmen the Golden Knights picked up for free, Petrovic, Pysyk, Nurse, Klefbom, Skjei, Vatanen or Cody Franson. Not picky who.

Understandable. You guys are like 4 points out of a playoff spot now, but you still have a good team.
If only RippedFuel was right and Skinner was able to sustain his scoring pace.. Everyone here fully expected Skinner to score 90 goals this year.

these tweets stuck out in my mind, from @EvolvingWild (stats heavy twitter) from end of Nov and Early Dec

its pretty simple, if they are not getting Elite goaltending ..well they are going to struggle.

That can be said about any team though.

anyways.. Trade for Hamilton

oh and this one

If dude(s) thinks the Leafs are heavily relying on Andersen, doesn't getting Hamilton mean we would need to rely on Andersen even more. Hamilton is more of an offensive D-man, not his defensive play.

A Toronto/Carolina trade has seemed like it makes sense for so long now... I'd take Pesce or Hamilton for sure. Although with Anaheim being a tire fire right now too maybe a Manson or Montour deal could be swung. Who knows.

A deal for Manson and Montour would be nice..

Although, not sure what the Ducks want, or need at this point

Stats seem to bear out that they are struggling both offensively AND defensively. Anecdotally, I had to turf Getzlaf from my fantasy team because he has been hot garbage for a points only league (relative to where he was selected).

Perry out long term hurts but it shouldn't translate to THIS much of a struggle for them. Excellent goalie, some good wingers, Getz/Henrique at 1/2 is good and the D is above average I'd say.

I guess the bottom 6 + Ritchie being in the top 6 is killing them?

LeBrun said he’s talked to some GM’s who say the Leafs 1st round pick is very in play.

Hamilton drives the play like few can in the league.

It's a mistery to everyone as to why he's not getting more results to be honest.

Both Montour and Manson are RHD, which is kind of what we need..

Rielly - Manson
Hainsey- Montour
Dermott - Ozhiganov/Zaitsev.

Well same Dudes also think Hamilton is not just an offensive D man.. but a good all around D that can play top pair.

so if that bumps each of the current RHD down...isnt that good?

I don't know what it is either.. He gets a lot more O-zone starts, which is fine, but at times just doesn't seem to be to engaged defensively.

Anything that moves Zaitsev out of our top 4 is a good thing. So, I accept your premise
