He will go down as one of the best players ever, unsure that’s a fair comparison. - airjan23
OK, fair point. I meant that Zib doesn't seem able to carry the team on a nightly basis like a true #1 does. Not saying he doesn't try, he was great last night. Until he brings that game every night I don't consider him a true #1, the kind of player that leads the team to a Cup, like Toews did for Chicago. Granted it takes a solid supporting cast, without that piece we aren't going to be competitors for a while.

if the right offer came in for Zib I'd be all over it
it's not that I dont like him, but despite that marvelous win last night we should be looking to move guys with maximum trade value right now

Some expectation the Florida Panthers will be active in trade circles. GM Dale Tallon has let teams know depth Dman Bogden Kiselevich is available.

Zib is like Step was for us, but not nearly consistent. Good player but not a good #1 center. Great players to have, but not the ones we need for that role.

every single team that Keith Yandle has ever been on has under achieved - jimbro83
Gonna get a complex.
In all seriousness though I though FL would be a decent team by now. I think if Gallant wasn't dumped at the curb, it might be a bit of a different story.

it's hard to be passionate about hockey down there
it's too nice, there's too much distraction and there are no fans that care
I wouldn’t trade Buch, we’d be selling low on him, plus we’re pretty thin on the wing with not much in the system. I’d have to think Zucc/Nam/McQuaid/Vesey/Fast and maybe Kreider or Hayes (strongly against that) could be gone after the deadline. With no one in the system looking like they could be a top 6 winger besides Kravtsov, I don’t think holding onto Buchnevich hurts us now or in the future. For the 2nd or 3rd round pick we would get is it worth missing out on him possibly getting his game together and being a 50-60 point player? To me the answer is no, especially when we’re drafting guys like Olof Lindbom in the 2nd round.

I just dont think Buch is the kind of guy that gets traded at the deadline
guys that get traded at the deadline are guys that teams go for to improve a playoff run
Buchnevich is still such an unknown at this point, if they decide to deal him I think it will be at the draft/over the summer

Good point, but my answer would be similar. Is the 2nd/3rd round pick worth missing out on him finding his game? I still say no, especially when our 2nd best prospect at wing is Vinnie Letteri (I say that half joking)

I dont think the Rangers would be interested that anyway
if Buch gets traded, I picture an offseason blockbuster deal where he's part of a larger package
