Flames broadcast version of the highlights (good job by their play by play guys ... from instantly knowing which Sabre has the puck, to the commentary, to the goal calls).
http://www.dtmts.com/?id=2018020723&vid=65000403
FYI, for those of you not familiar with it, DTMTS.com freakin' rules ("don't tell me the score"). It's JUST the highlights - no BS. They don't tell you the score in the beginning, they show just - the - goals (and sometimes a nice save, a post, a penalty) - no stupid background music or no "the Sabres really pulled off a nice win last night, let's see the highlights..." in the beginning. This really comes in handy for the late-night games, or especially the playoff games. I love to wake up in the morning after a bunch of playoff games the night before, go immediately to DTMTS.com, and start playing the highlights for each game. Of course, if we actually made the playoffs, I would watch our games live, even if they started at 10pm or something.
Enjoy ! - kritter65

NHL average for SV% is .908 this year, and Ullmark is at .917 though. Idk what number you're trying to get to, like .920? Sure they could take a run at Bob, but he's gotta be thinking he's gonna cash in at $7+ m over a fair amount of term.
Ullmark is at 2.86 GA; all the Sabres have to do is consistently score 3 goals and they'll win more than they lose. That's where the problem lies imo - jcragcrumple
If they give him 2/3 of the remaining starts and he holds those numbers or improves ill gladly eat my words. But to date I haven't really seen much that would suggest that he'd be able to. |

I think you may have misunderstood the point of my post.
I am not setting his bar at amazing performance. Other posters started the morning by contending that Ullmark has to be the starter after last night's performance and I am only answering that I know we won, but I wouldn't say it was because Linus played great. He played well enough.
And yes, Jack hit posts. I don't know how that's relevant to judging Linus. - Der Kaiser
So you are starting Hutton on Friday?
Go with the veteran?
"He played well enough."
This is about winning and losing
Rittich played well enough to get calgary a point
Ullmark won the game.
I'd say that ullmark played between well enough and amazing. He made some game saving saves.
He faced 33 shots and BEAT the NHL's 2nd best team in their arena.

its not about earning it or not. neither one of these goalies is used to a starters workload. Especially for Ullmark who is still wet behind the ears in terms of NHL experience.
in two games he'll tie his career high for starts/appearances. Asking him to take on 2/3 of the remaining games is likely beyond his capabilities right now. - Sabresfan-365
You are misguided by focusing only on NHL experience for Ullmark.
16/17 Ullmark played 56 games (55 ahl, 1 nhl)
17/18 Ullmark played 49 games (44 ahl, 5 nhl)
18/19 Ullmark has played 18 games
conclusion re: Ullmark is that he has the physical durability to play 32 more games easily, if 50 games played was the goal per season for him
16/17 Hutton played 30 games (21 starts)
17/18 Hutton played 32 games (26 starts)
18/19 Hutton has played 31 games (30 starts)
conclusion re: Hutton is that he has already played as many games as he has ever played in a whole season. He is probably feeling that, especially given his age.
Overall conclusion: moving forward, Ullmark should be getting 2/3 of the starts and Hutton 1/3. Ullmark's history shows that it is more likely that he can physically handle it better than Hutton. Additionally, the team plays better in front of Ullmark, as evidenced by his win to loss ratio.
Edit: fixed a typo, 26 starts for Hutton in 17/18, not 16 |

Well, sure right now and for 1 more year, maybe.
However, at $6m cap hit for 4 more years, fitting in on the 4th line is simply not acceptable...at anytime.
He gives 110% effort but has lost "it"...can you imagine how bad he is going to bevne t year, and then the year after, and the tear after that...and then in his last year.
I too would trade a 1st to dispose of him...unless he told JBotts that he will retire at the end f this tear or next. - IonSabres
Its acceptable when you are not in cap trouble. Giving up a 1st to get out of a contract that isn't handcuffing you is a dumb move.
As how bad he is going to be in two years, no one can predict. He could get a concussion tomorrow and the contract is off the books so why trade a 1st now for a problem two years from now?
Also the CBA has an opt out this year and perhaps there will be compliance buy-out. Smart GMs don't throw 1st round picks away. |

Horrible. But I have a feeling we're all gonna find out because it makes no sense financially to buy him out. He'll probably play next year, get waived the next year, and be bought out at the end of that season (2020-2021)
Unless something dramatic happens |

Thanks. I was a little surprised by these numbers. I knew they used Ullmark like a workhorse in Rochester and I want to see more of him here, but after seeing these numbers it is obvious he needs more starts. Hopefully that was the plan all along and we see the 2/3 1/3 shift implemented after the break. |

Justin Kloos has been traded from Minnesota to Anaheim in exchange for Pontus Aberg.
Kloos made his NHL debut with the Wild in 2017-18, but he hasn't played since then for the big club. In 34 AHL matches this year, the 25-year-old forward has 12 goals and 30 points. |

Buying him out doesn't .ake any sense though. They save the same amount of money by just waiving him. Maybe that's what they do? Or retain. I just don't see anyone being interested |

At least so far, it doesn't seem like GMJB's mentality to buy players out. He seems more content with dealing with the pain of the contract and riding it out until it's off the books, whether that means they play in a bottom level roll, sit, or get waived. |

There's literally no reason to buy him out this year. He would count $5m against the cap for the next two years, which is the same amount as waiving him. Might as well waive him and keep him in Roch in case there are injuries |

I wouldn't buy him out at any point. I'd rather work around his cap hit, so to speak, and place him on waivers if need be. |

He doesn’t need to be bought out though.
He isn’t good enough for a roster spot next year. Waive him |

If they buy him out he is on their cap until the 2026-2027 season
If they bury him in the minors $5 million of his cap is on the books until the end of his contract
Basically they save $1 million of cap space a la the Matt Moulson treatment.
They are better off trying to trade him and retain half of his salary that burying him for the next 4 seasons. It at least frees up $3 million in cap space.
The problem is he has a 15 team no trade list which will make it even more difficult.
Murray really screwed the pooch...(raw deal) |
