The cap hit is still the same though. The structure can make it more attractive to the player or make him more/less tradeable, but you can't game the cap hit like you're suggesting.

It's no more ridiculous than people here thinking we would get a player of Kadris quality for Risto....
Buffalo fans totally overrate out players. Remember when Hutton was being talked about as such an upgrade?? Lehner heading to the playoffs, Hutton to the golf course. Risto...so good that McDavid fell down twice and Risto STILL couldn't catch him.
I'm glad all you experts have all the answers for a team locked into their 8th consecutive non playoff finish.
Let's trade Risto for Herman, Point, and Kucherov. Throw in a 2nd if we have to. Just don't touch the SJ first. We are going to draft the next Mark Messier in that spot |

I’m not overrating anyone. I’m not a huge risto fan but to say he is only the 173rd best dman in the league is totally underrating him. Cmon dude.

St. Louis is also worse off in goaltending without Hutton..
Hutton although has not been spectacular lately has not been in the stinks category. his own damn team scored like 4 of the last 7 goals on him. |
