I agree on that. I don't love Gardiner, either. But I feel badly for the guy that people are booing him, when there are far more reasonable targets - like everyone on Boston - who should be booed.

Everytime the hometown fans start to boo a Leaf, some savvy guy should flash a picture of Marchand on the scoreboard.

I feel bad for the guy too, honestly. He's better than what he's shown as of late.
But people pay good money for watching those games and have every right to boo as they see fit. I wouldn't personally but I get it.

Agreed though.. (frank) Boston.

Let me be very clear here, Bixie:

While I have asked you to turn in your Leafs Nation passport, I HAVE NOT asked you to turn in your Leafs undies.

Don't even think about it.

A) We Shouldn't
B) We can't.

We should and we can.

Rielly New RH
Gardiner bring up a RH from the Marlies (or sign / trade for 1 ) that can stay at home and not chase....and make a goddamn pass on the tape from 5 feet away.
Dermott Zaitsev.

We need to add to our top 2 ( just my bad opinion )

It's a terrible stat.

3rd period, up by one, defenceman clears the puck from the front stoop and gets it off the glass and out.

That's a giveaway? That's a negative?

- Atomic Wedgie

Very technically speaking, that is a negative. Just like blocked shots are technically a negative. Guys who just chip the puck out or block shots are not doing anything for maintaining or recovering possession. They're just stemming the tide of the "inevitable" (I say this based on how often do you hate when your team is protecting a 1 goal lead by just chipping it out and letting the other team regroup and come right back at you).

The problem with giveaways is that the context is also not consistent. I don't believe a puck off the glass is considered a giveaway in all arenas or even all the time. But I've seen a lot of Zaitsev's incomplete passes that are intercepted in the neutral zone considered giveaways.

I'd like to see the stat expanded (across the board) to better reflect how often players maintain control vs give away control. Like . . .I also grew up on old school hockey - dump and chase, or straight rushes, but I love a possession game. I loved when Zetterberg would maintain control at the opposition's blue line while his team changed, pass it back, change himself, and *boom* full line change, without relinquishing the puck.

Hawks fan as well. If I was a Hawks fan, I would want the Leafs to keep Gards as well.

Totally untrue. We would gladly take him for Seabrook!!!!!

Me too. I'd even go a bit higher. I'd do 7.

He's a victim of partners like Zaitsev, like with Soderberg's shortie.

I'd like to steer away from a NMC though. Him snubbing Edmonton in the McDavid deal would be a bit much to handle.

If we can sign Gardiner for under $6m I say we do it.
- Garnie

In a heartbeat. Other teams will offer him more because they’re not as smart as our knowledgeable fans.
