I find it franking bizarre the 99.9% of Leafs Nation wants to get rid of Gardiner, yet give Zaitsev a free pass.

Zaitsev is franking horrible. He's not an NHL defenceman, but we are stuck with him for another eleventy bajillion years at a stupid cap hit.

Give Gardiner someone to play with and you'll see an improvement in his play.

Gardiner is 2nd in TOI/G for Leafs' defencemen, yet we will be better off next year by promoting Dermott and bringing up a guy from the AHL or playing Marincin.

Better than icing a defense that helps the team lose. Z is garbage. Jake is dumb. Terrible combo. They can trade now for a top 4, have Dermott move up.

SDP brought up an interesting point about booing Gardiner vs booing Hainsey/Zaitsev etc. They asked, is it because people expect Gardiner to be better, but know that Hainsey/Zaitsev are what they are? So like, no point criticizing Stephen Hawking for being poop at basketball for example.

Hainsey will be gone for sure after this year. Hopefully Gardiner too. I'm willing to give Z one more year before i start booing him in my living room, which is my right as i get a Leafs travel mug every year in the winter. I'm a paying customer, so my complaints shall be heard.

( Zaistev )If he could just make a pass....he goes a game or 2 and looks ok then he goes on stretches and every pass is either a foot too far or in the skates.

Gardiner gets the gears because the battles he loses he seems to have the guy beat and stops moving his feet....I hated Gards a few years ago, now I don't really want to see him gone but not sure we can afford what he's going to get as a UFA

I believe if him and Lil don’t play 10 games in the NHL they are both eligible for an entry level contract slide. Which essentially means their 3 year contract won’t start until they do so.
