Matthews goal was called off after 43 seconds in the O zone, if they go down the other way and score before a whistle, can you call offside against yourself? |

All I know is that rule needs to be changed. Should only be reviewable if they go directly in and score. If the puck hits the boards or the other team touches it, make it non-reviewable. Maybe put a time limit on it as well, like 10 seconds.

I have a question for all regarding this play.
If the Leafs went back up the ice and scored, could the Lightning have the goal reviewed by calling offside against themselves? - bixll
I think if the puck goes back out then that offside play is dead and gone.
I could be wrong though |

I don't think so.
It's such a stupid rule. It was meant to catch blatant offside, not hairline infraction.
Tampa goes offside (how that was missed is beyond me) and the leafs get a weak penalty call against. So stupid. |

Yes, and when the puck comes out of the zone its non-reviewable |

His point is that once they go offside the play should be dead. If they go offside (play should be over) and then the other team goes the other way and scores it shouldn't count because play should have ended on the offside at the other end |

Tampa puts microphone inside playing surface. Tampa complains puck hit microphone thingy. Tampa stopped playing without a whistle. Tampa has no case.

so they miss the call, and the team thats offside doesnt score...the puck comes back out and then that offside is gone like it never existed. so you cant challenge it at any point again |

Who doesn't know the rules? The rules were applied correctly on that play |

Maybe Tampa could ask for the whole game to be replayed at a later date because everything after that offside play shouldn't have happened?
NHL get rid of this rule! |

It should be the spirit of offside, where it's clearly visible in real time to the linesman. If it takes slo mo replays to catch it, let it go. The marginal offsides will even out for both teams. |

What the (frank) is it with Tampa and putting poop inside stadiums that are maybe "in or out of play"
No one knows what's fair or foul in Tropicana Field. Unlike any other stadium. |

This I don't get. You can't put things on the inside of the boards or glass and not expect them to get hit at some point...??? I didn't even realize those microphones were located there. Any argument they have is null in my mind. It would be the same when the puck hits a stantion... play on! |

no, offside is offside. Leaving the Zone that had offside on it doesn't negate the offside. That's the point.
If you go offside at 2:00 and then the puck exits the zone that doesn't mean that you didn't go offside. The play should have ended at 2:00, so if something that happened after 2:00 shouldn't count.

I guess. See lots of teams/players/coaches arguing and angry about calls but they are wrong and they know it, just trying to grasp at straws. |

getting tired of the commentator who has been saying for 15+ games that 'nylander is getting better and better, he moves faster etc. - soon he'll get the point'.
there is literally NOTHING that has been positive about Willie's performance so far.
apologists should really stop pretending. |
