I'm confused as to how anyone could like the trade for Rask. The Aberg trade was good. The one for Rask, who's been BAD this season, makes no sense. Even at his best he's not nearly as good as Nino.

Thanks for the free forward upgrade. I was honestly expecting them to trade Rask for a low pick or hell, buy him out even (yes he’s that bad). But I can deal with this as well.

I thought they were going to have to waive him once Bishop got healthy. He's barely an NHL player at this point.

Yeah, I really don't get this from the Wild's standpoint.

Apparently you don't watch much of the Wild play the last season and 1/2. Nino has been horrible. He looks lost out on the ice most of the time and is always trailing the play. He turns the puck over regularly and loses most puck battles.

I've always liked Nino, but is was time for him to go.

you can have Staal back too if you want! He's a shell of what he was last year.

Yeah, maybe you could consider Nino and upgrade over Rask, but Wild fans have seen Nino's game on a regular basis. Unless you know something we Wild fans don't, not sure how big of an upgrade if any you're actually getting.

Nino has been awful since he was injured last season. He's proven to be nothing more than a "body" on the ice filling a winger position. He's been a ghost. He loses most puck battles, is a turnover machine, has little to know passing skill and when he does manage to get control of the puck in the O zone, he takes terrible low percentage shots either into the goalies midsection or misses the net all together.

So get back to me by seasons end and let me know how the upgrade is working out for you...

Rask is simply a means to an end. Nino needed to go, Fenton needed to create more cap space so he can more actively build for the future. If Rask happens to contribute and work out, it's just a bonus for the Wild. If not, he'll be gone before or by the end of his contract. It's a stepping stone.

You obviously haven’t watched any Canes games the last few seasons (don’t blame ya), but Rask is an AHLer at best. He’s absolutely brutal. I’m pretty sure the Canes were on the verge of buying him out or trading him with cap retainemnt for an ECHLer just to get rid of him. The Wild sadly lost this trade badly, yeah Nino is meh, but at least he can play hockey.

Mmmmkay... first, I don’t watch many Canes games aside from the 2 they play the Wild... secondly, neither team has played a minute with their newly acquired player so to suggest that either team won or lost the trade based on the current seasons accomplisments is absurd. Lastly, as I thought I pointed out, this was merely a means to start the rebuild for Fenton. He gained cap space and sounds like he got a player that hasn’t done much less than the one he got rid of this season for over a million less per season.

So from a Wild fan perspective it’s already a win for us and sounds like a similar situation for Canes fans.
