Carol Schram: Canucks drop shootout decision to Oilers, trade Del Zotto and recall Kero It took four shootout rounds before a winner was determined, but fans on hand at Rogers Arena were treated to an intense, entertaining contest as the Vancouver Canucks dropped a 3-2 decision in extra time to the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. After the game, it was announced that the Canucks had traded defenseman Michael Del Zotto to the Anaheim Ducks; on Thursday, the team recalled centre Tanner Kero for precautionary reasons.

hypothetically, if the rumors are true, and he is asking for Tom Wilson money (6 years x 5.125 aav), do you do it?

If Petey is ready to get back into the lineup on Friday, someone will have to come out. Will that be Horvat, placed on IR? Will Jim Benning make another trade to free up a spot? Or will Kero simply be shipped right back to Utica if it turns out that both Horvat and Pettersson are able to play?

as the world turns in Canuckland

Team is slowly getting healthy, decisions needing to be made.

Don't want to see Horvat hurt but still wonder how the team would play without him in the lineup.

He's the "barking dog" the team (EP) needs.

not disputing that. A top 6 forward who can actually play hockey, protect team mates, fight when needed, and create more space for EP is exactly the type of winger he needs. Do you pay him that money though if that is he ask?

Tough one. I heard his agent wants 7 years at 5 mil per minimum.

Ferland would help in many ways to be sure but is the contract he wants what we need right now?

im asking you an honest question, and I am not sure if you are referencing LE's contract as a point to back up your statement or not.

Intresting. Rask has been awful this year compared to normal, wonder if he'll improve in Minny

No it's not. The assets it would cost, plus another Loui deal?

As much as i'd like to see him here, it would be a hard no.

Ferland at 7 years is a no. Maybe 3-5 years. He's 26 and wouldn't be a bad fit with Petey

Edit: Only go after him after he's a free agent as his cost could be too high now in a trade

i think that's the whole point of the discussion though. Teams will give him term and $ if he makes it to free agency.

Maybe both players need a change of scenery - but this trade doesn't make a lot of sense to me for Minny. Rask sucks bigger d*cks than Goldy. Nino is clearly a better player and has always been. They're a year apart in age and its only saving Minny 1.25 mil in cap space.
