it will be interesting to see. I don't know if what he has done this year is enough to make him earn more than Bo, but again, I still wouldn't be surprised if he is the highest paid Canuck by next year because of all his accomplishments last year. And 3-5 for a player like Boeser would be so much more ideal than 6 or 7 or 8, I 100% agree. - Codes1087
Just to compare - Ferland is on pace for a 50 point season - from what I could find, Kane was the only similar UFA (point production/winger) from recent/last year and he got 7X7 - but mind you Kane/Ferland were in different positions career wise. I dont think Ferland is getting that much but i think he wants more than any of us would be willing to give him. |

Dressing room issues, or Goldobin-type problems?
If it's dressing room and they're adding him to go along with Hamilton... |

I think paying Ferland 5 mil a year is nuts . Get Jordie Benn on D and Gudbrandson . They should be okay to combine to cover the physical duties . - VANTEL
You mention him quite a bit - have you watched any Habs games lately? he fawking blows dude - he's a slightly sh$ttier version of Hutton |

At this stage of the Canucks reinvention, they shouldn't be signing a UFA like Ferland. They should be finding and developing the next Ferland.
If you need more immediate protection for your younger skill players like EP, Boeser and Hughes, add some stiffness to one of the D pairs. They're on the ice more often than a forward and you don't run the risk that your star player can't produce with the enforcer you went out and got to protect him. |

The only option that fits finding/developing/immediate protection would be Jedi MaceWen - he would actually be a great fit with Petey, skill, speed, defensively responsible, not scared to get in the dirty areas, fights, hits. Other than that I dont think I can pinpoint anyone? |

Actually was thinking about McEwan the other day...does Green like him enough to put him on a line with Petey? |

Green said two weeks ago Zack is on Canucks management radar. They don't want to rush him and are developing him as a Power Forward. They want to make sure he is ready and not rush him.

Their owner wants to win games 7-6 so I wouldn’t be surprised if their roster looks drastically different a year or two from now - Nucker101
you gotta think skinner and lindholm would have helped with that |

He's just not really that physical of a guy - he hits as much as Edler and fights once a year. Sure he's cheap, but thats cus he sucks - other options are give McEneny or Sautner a shot, they'd probably be hungrier/willing to stand up fo their teammates cus they got something to prove.
UFA wise - you want a D to come in on a short/cheap deal maybe Marc Methot - he's a tough ba$tard - when he's healthy. Anton Stralman or Brayden Coburn? Slim pickings or if you wanted to spend $$ Tyler Myers... |

Fair enough and I get it...but how long do they want to wait? McEwan has already eclipsed his point totals this season in Utica from his previous season there and in 1/3 less games. The signs seem to be there that he is ready for a look... |

I have seen him fight a few times. Edler hits quite often
You don't need to go out and get a Ferland fot 5x5.5 to have 4 fights a year Get yourself an Aaron Rome type guy (Benn as a number 6/7 guy ) and go get a better forward with your 5 mil plus.

I know right. I was trying to get an idea of how he can justify wanting so much but the Kane comparison is the closest i could come up with to it. Instead Zac Mac is my choice but I think it would have to be a big leap of faith for TG to bring him up AND put him on Peteys line. |

He could be up at TDL or next year or the year after. They are still working on his game when he doesn't have the puck. |

He gotta be on the radar - I believe Cull was saying the other day about how hard and focussed he is and how he brings it consistently shift to shift. Ive watched a lot of comets games this year and he, more than anyone fits the bill. I'd be happy if that was a plan for next year and they were a little more patient with him. Although i wouldn't mind seeing a taste of it after the TDL if we're for sure not making the playoffs. |

I think Canucks right now have to be feeling pretty good where they are sitting same as the Habs.
In the summer both teams were being ripped and were sent to the dungeons by the hockey world. I remember in the summer having the debate that Montreal absolutely won the trade between Galchenyuk and Domi.
The thing is everyone myself included love taking the Armchair GM spot and thinking we are smarter than the guys actually doing the job.
I see almost everyday about how bad Granlund is. He is on pace for 12-15 goals , kills penalties and plays all forward spots for 1.5 mil. That my friend is a bargain.
Hutton is another one. He is quietly having a solid year with 5 goals 17 pts. Hits fights and is moving the puck well. His game is improving and he is only 25 .
People dislike Gudbrandson Sutter Markstrom but all in all the Canucks are playing good hockey and getting better.
I think if you asked anyone if they thought Canucks would have 48 pts in mid January would they consider it a success , I think most would say hell ya.
So when I think Mgmt hear move this guy, bring up this guy , sign him waive him , it all turns into white noise to ownership. |

I hope Markstrom has turned the corner and become a legitimate starter. |
