Spezza has been on several highlights on Sportsnet for setting up his teammates. His puck protection hasn’t changed, he’s constantly supporting the puck, he came across to fly the zone on the breakout which backed out the D for an easy breakout for his other winger. Just lots of smart plays.

I also really like this Stars breakout. They send their wingers out early and run quick stretch passes with one guy looping back for support but it seems like they get rid of the puck so much quicker than we do. They just noted that Spezza is #1 in the faceoff dot prior to the period ending

I’m 100% sold on Spezza btw. He took kind of a poopty penalty early on but aside from that all he did was support the puck, win draws, and make his teammates better. That’s exactly what I want for Phil and our 3C. Dallas can keep Faksa

Finally the second line!

Cullen has been sneaky good on the offensive cycle. His zone entries aren’t the greatest and he should probably stop challenging defenders 1 v 1 but his playmaking in the O zone has been surprising

I like Wilson, but he was just kinda standing in no mans land on that goal against. Wasn’t guarding an active passing or shooting lane

He's been arguably our best D-man this period. That says a lot on how many defensive lapses we are having and 2-on-1 breakaways lol
