I agree with you regarding Bones. Nobody today has mentioned the fact that Malkin and Kessel together has looked really bad for a huge chunk of this season and that’s why I want a good 3C coming back. I’m fine with Sheahan at 3C but he doesn’t mesh well with Phil either. Personally, I think the second line of Malkin with Pearson and Simon is fine except that Malkin needs to figure some stuff out. IF Carter is willing to come here, I’m willing to mortgage picks and our top prospects to get both him and Muzzin BUT that means that I’m also willing to trade Maatta and Hornqvist away for picks and prospects either this season or next - WSCTeton17
See, I seem to remember Phil and Sheahan starting looking pretty strong together on the 3rd then they traded for Brassard. I could be remembering wrong.
I like Maatta more than most around here but if he brought in Muzzin I'd be fine with that. Horny I'm not so sure I want to let go that soon. Maybe in a few more years. I just see how important he is when he's missing, how different they look. The lineup just isn't the same. In a few years though he's older and taking up 5+ mill of cap. Next year might be too soon for me to part with Horny. |

Definitely hoping after our break Geno gets his poop together. That is the absolute main thing that needs to happen. - 668710
I really think both Geno and Brass are in their own heads. |

I think Carter would be willing to go to Pittsburgh for 2 reasons.
1. Gives him a realistic chance at another Cup in the next few seasons.
2. Gives a giant middle finger to the Flyers who traded him to Columbus. - tkecanuck341
Nothing was better than Richards and Carter winning a cup together with the Kings, I think that was his middle finger moment. |

You are correct with the Phil/Sheahan line. Problem is the third guy was that Guentzel kid if I'm not mistaken. |

Yeah I would agree with that. We've been waiting and waiting for Brass and it probably won't happen and he'll get traded. |

I think you’re remembering wrong because the dominant 3rd line I remember I called the Horny-She-She line. Hornqvist, Sheahan, and Sheary and for whatever reason they were always buzzing |

I agree. Now Carter is a family man and I think he wants to stay with them in LA |

If they do trade Brass in a package we could get a really good winger and go Sheahan as the 3c. |

I'd really much rather just ride out the defense and focus on a 3C. I know that you're against Carter but I really don't think he's a bad idea. Its tough when the main guy we're trying to trade is a 3C and we're trying to get a better 3C. - Victoro311
I'm the opposite, I'd rather ride out the forwards and try and boost the D to get JJ off the (frank)ing ice. |

(frank)ing 5 year deal. I honestly wouldn't be that mad if it was 1 year. That's tradeable...maybe. |

I like those first and third lines, but again I don’t see Kessel and Sheahan meshing sans Guentzel. Guentzel is obviously a great fit with Sid AND Malkin and Phil on the same line has been lousy. I really think Phil needs a new, playmaking center and that’s why I really like the idea of either Carter or Spezza centering Phil and Pearson while Simon and Hornqvist play with Malkin. Then maybe the 4th line is comprised of Wilson, ZAR, and Sheahan. A man can dream |

He won’t be taken off the ice though. There’s no point trying make a move to make Johnson sit. He ain’t sitting. |

I find it kind of weird that the guy who all of you have been ripping all year and isn't a real 3C is worth as much as some of you think he is. He's 31 one, and on a sharp decline. Trade him for anything and move on. |

You’re right, he’s 31. Doesn’t mean his career is done. It’s pretty clear that he just hasn’t been a good fit in Pitt. I think Brass for Spezza (salary retained) and a 3rd makes complete sense for both sides. I’m a fan of both teams and I think Brass could potentially be a 55 point 2C in Dallas and I think Spezza can finish strong and maybe have one really good year (next season) centering Phil on the 3rd line and playing PP2. He’s good on draws, has a history of producing, had a down year and has rebounded somewhat which I think can be grown upon while playing with say Pearson and Phil (leaving Sid’s line alone and playing Simon with Geno and Horny which looked promising before Horny went down). I don’t think it’s a slam dunk but I think it’s a low risk move that allows us to use our picks before the deadline or at the draft. I also think it’s fair to argue that this kind of deal could blow up but even if it does I think Sheahan is a good 3C and that Spezza is still good on the draw and would add value to PP2. I’m really excited to see what GMJR actually does.
And YES. I AM ON HYDROCODONE |
