Every member of Generation X has AIDS and died due to cocaine overdoses in the mid-80s. Because that's how the media sensationalized it.
I'm going to move to rural Tennessee and dig a ditch for 12 hours a day 6 days a week to make just enough money so that my family won't starve. Because apparently, if you don't do that, you're a spoiled, lazy brat. - jmatchett383
You didn’t get your trickle down economics starter kit? It says “pull here” on the bootstraps.

Well, I don’t connect personally to any of the above.

I find this very true in my life. - NC Flyers Fan
But if you notice everyone is chiming in with career achievements, which isn't the defining factor of a person. There are some people who truly believe if they make more money than someone they are a better person or more successful. There are people who believe the only way to make lots of money is to be hard working. Does luck or timing have anything to do with it? Is Snooki a hard worker than everyone here? What about instantgram models making millions a year? Has anyone ever had a job where they see someone get promoted and others ask why? Obviously to that person they think they worked their ass off to get where they are, can everyone around them say the same?
Again these little things show differences in mentality. Every generation will have people with better jobs or make more money, that's just a fact of life. Every generation will blame the previous one, fact of life. The question is which people can separate the two.

So I should just be cool with the fact that people think I'm lazy and spoiled based on my age? Not gonna happen.
Personally, I don't really judge people based on age, race, religion, or anything other than their actions. If you think that's an acceptable way to judge all people of a certain demographic, then that's on you. Damn all of those Muslims, they're all terrorists...right? - jmatchett383
I just posted another comment, but your career achievements don't tell me anything about how you view the world or your mentality.

I’m pretty sure I don’t blame the previous generation(s) for anything. For me, it is about taking the positives and realizing that if there is something I don’t like I can change that going forward. I would hope that I don’t one day blame future generations either.

Of course it has to do with the individual, just like not every GenX or Baby Boomer is going to be the hardest working person alive. Overall what is acceptable to the younger generation is not the same the older you get, again no different than GenX vs the BB.
The fact the word millenial triggers you enough that you have to prove you are not like the others brings up another point of being overly sensitive, right? You're an individual so accept who you are. Do you want to call Gen X people poop heads and stupid. Ok. I am fine with that. - Glak18
when millennials ask for 70% tax on the rich it pretty much explains why a guy like trump can be president

Really comes down to what is working hard. I've been in situations which may take me an hour or two to finish a task, but for another person to do the task it may take them the full day to finish. Does that mean I didn't work hard because I finished sooner? My whole 20's were 90-100 work weeks, constant travel and juggling multiple projects at once. Do long hours mean hard work?
Definition of what working hard varies from person to person. I've seen people constantly late for work, literally sleeping and disappearing for large chunks of time (granted I do a lot of work on government funded projects), but when those people are asked at review time they will tell you and believe it that they are a hard working person. I've owned my own software company for about 8 or 9 years now and some of the delusions people think of themselves are mind boggling.
As for mistakes, agreed 100%. I have made many mistakes during my career, but the key is to accept responsibility for them without making up excuses, even if the excuse is plausible. If you think ahead and plan, even in life, you can limit those mistakes from becoming overwhelming. I just personally believe the better the decisions and choices made in work/life the easier it will be, but that doesn't mean hard work isn't needed at all.
Oh and /high five - Glak18
I finish my work much earlier than my coworkers. I talked to my boss about that and he's fine with me going home because he understands I got my work done and its usually the best quality.

It is possible to be happy while working a 9 to 5, and unmarried, or fat, or poor, or different in any way. Despite conventional wisdom.
I really think those who feel they were 'robbed' of things are those who act out, and cause misery to those around them.
Unless you believe you will draft a better player with those four 1sts.
It is NOT that easy to hit every year.
And you have a young, productive bird-in-the-hand - DrMidnite
Rumor has it that Holmgren essentially got himself (and the Flyers) black-listed for offer sheeting Weber. If that's true, it's crap, imho. It's not against the rules to offer sheet someone. Don't like it? Change the rule, until then quit whining when someone does something perfectly legal.

I agree, it is stupid. AND makes GMs put some real thought in how to build a winner.
There might need to be some serious thought in the new CBA in regards to helping teams keep their franchise guys.

Agreed 100%. What someone makes or their job title has zero relevance towards how happy they are. If people lived life grateful for what they have and not upset over what they don't most people would be much happier.

I think some people think they are entitled to everything and can become unhinged when they don't.
Seriously. Social media exacerbates this. And it is bad.
Something is certainly up for them to not have Weise around the team. - nastyflyergirl
He's the best teammate Patrick has ever had. He's the guy he leans on when times are tough. If I was GM, and heard this, I'd want to keep Weise away from my team too.
