He's the best teammate Patrick has ever had. He's the guy he leans on when times are tough. If I was GM, and heard this, I'd want to keep Weise away from my team too.

That was some alarming crap from Patrick.

So I should just be cool with the fact that people think I'm lazy and spoiled based on my age? Not gonna happen.

Personally, I don't really judge people based on age, race, religion, or anything other than their actions. If you think that's an acceptable way to judge all people of a certain demographic, then that's on you. Damn all of those Muslims, they're all terrorists...right?

Hmm interesting twist. Seems like you are trying to fight multiple fights at one time here.

I feel like you get this tag a lot and that's why it upsets you so much. Just curious is it the internet or do you hear this a lot in real life too? I do find it more interesting because you are literally right on the cusp of what separates generations and trying justify for the actions of others that just happen to be in the same age range designated by a study group.

I believe the cutoff between GenX and Millennials is 1982, do you really find that life experience is that much different between 1981 and 1982? Wouldn't you agree there is a bigger difference between a 1983 birthday and say a 1996? I mean maybe it is just me, but I would say there is a huge difference in mentality from say me and....someone born in 1901. Maybe that is just age discrimination to you.

Conventional wisdom/unwritten rules.

Definitely part of it. It's one of the few instances where NHL teams don't contribute to and pretty much cause the main gripes they have come CBA time.

Yep, but it is impossible for everyone to make the most.

I am not romanticizing poverty, BUT it does not have to be AWFUL if you do not keep up with the Joneses.

I loved my childhood, using trash bags as a suitcase and a limited budget for new clothes for school.

Being rich doesn’t equal happiness. But having enough money to be secure in life is everything.

Yes! But for those who CANT, it creates misery.

Which falls to parents where (through no fault of their own) who feel pressure to provide such things to their kids. (the middle class)

Money can make life more stressful too. If you have money, people are looking to get it from you. Some women out there will marry you just so they can cash in on the divorce. Sure you can get a prenup but people get all bent out of shape because you dont "trust" them. No matter what you cant win.

Still partly the Money's fault. That person isnt a problem if the money isnt there. Its a combination. It is like saying we shouldnt try to get drugs off the street because people choose to use the drugs. The object still shares half the blame.

Yeah I know what you are saying. It's that old cliche, this person and that person...blah blah, but this one time [name] they got accused of this and that blah blah and golddigging. Maybe that story of the lottery winner....and blah blah family...wood works.

On some rare occasions someone tries to take advantage of a person who happens to have more money than most, it happens like anything else in life, but money is not the problem. If that was the case Gates would be the most stressed and problem bound person in the world...trust me he has no worries in the world.

I actually feel the opposite and have talked to a lot of parents that share my story to some degree. I grew up dirt poor. I worry that I shouldn’t spoil my children. I desperately want to give them any help I can, every opportunity within reason, but will they ever learn the lessons about people and life from a place of privilege? Balance is the main idea in those talks...creative ways to teach lessons about work and responsibility.

When I heard my son describing what a poor person is the other day, although the description wasn’t entirely accurate, I realized I never made such a distinction when I was a kid.

Anyone feel free to answer....

1) You have a paid off house
2) Zero debt
3) All you have to do is worry about normal everyday expenses

Who here would take all 3 and find themselves less stressed in life?

Most people don’t pay off a house. They just buy one that matches their salary/monthly payments.
