It's one game what's the issue? Someone get hurt in the morning skate, not worried about that.

It's a recurring pattern after they just went six games with only six available dmen. Lehtera showed in the last game he doesn't belong in the NHL, and there's a farm team an hour up the road full of ready replacements for him if Weise has been designated persona non grata.

multiple game road trips definitely need to bring an extra player. I'm not sure why Lehtera was even given another shot at this point, coaches love the "heavy player" i guess. Slow feet don't work in today's NHL.

It doesn't seem like Gordon loves him based on the fact he only got into the lineup when Fletcher removed Weise and left him with 12 forwards to pick from.

Wow, didn't realize that. Why haven't we called someone up?

Morin cleared for contact!!

Chuck:

“SAMUEL MORIN (D) (knee, ACL surgery)
"Sam saw the doctor during the last game vs. Boston (Jan. 16) and he's been cleared to go full tilt now. The game plan for Sam is to get his body ready to go back and play NHL hockey. We're looking at another month before he's ready to do that."

He was waived, but not sent to the Phantoms, so he's still on the Flyers roster. Hextall waived him in October, and he didn't stop going to practice then.

I don't think you actually understand what waivers are in the NHL.

I'm sure they are trying to move him which is why they haven't sent him down but its so odd they don't even have him practicing with the team. I mean, its not like he is a bad guy you need to remove from the locker room.

I don't blame Nylander, had he taken a bridge and then see Matthews and Marner get $9M plus would have been a tough pill to swallow. I don't think Nylander is as good as either player but I understand where he was coming from. Toronto would have been justified in trading him too, i still think they might this off season.

I think this is BS. He’s earned nothing. Matthews plays almost on a mcdavid level.

Minnesota and Carolina make a trade...

James Tanner finds a way to bash the Flyers and praise the almighty Leafs at the same time. Classic Tanner.

Not BS. He got fair value. Nylander is just months behind, trying to play catch up. He should start performing soon. He has looked good the past couple of games

Not really. They were calling for a February return and that is right on schedule. Great news regardless, I cant wait to see him bring some sandpaper to the defense.

Flyers GM plans to deal or sign Simmonds by trade deadline

57m ago

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher is not going to let Wayne Simmonds leave for nothing.

"That won’t happen," Fletcher told Philly.com's Sam Carchidi. "The goal would be to either have him signed or moved by the trade deadline."

The veteran forward, who is expected to be dealt, is a pending unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

Fletcher understands what Simmonds brings to the team, but knows he has to consider the financial impact.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Wayne Simmonds, but we have to look at our cap situation moving forward," Fletcher said. "(Simmonds) has been a warrior for this franchise and is still a heck of a hockey player."

The 30-year-old is in his eighth season with the Flyers and has tallied 202 goals and 373 points in 569 games with the franchise. This season, Simmonds ranks second on the Flyers with 15 goals and leads the team with 67 penalty minutes.

Wait so what you are saying is a guy that holds out, basically saying I am a better player so I should get more money, should be given more time than everyone else to get his game back? That is a justified excuse for you?

I mean it's already been a month and a half, what is reasonable 2 months? 3 months? What exactly did Nylander do when he was sitting out? Ok his timing is off for actually game situations, but the same can be said about any player sitting out for an amount of time. Shouldn't Flyer fans give Lehtera at least 2 months to get his timing back after being out for so long?

A player holds out for a huge pay day, they got 1 maybe 2 games max then they better turn on those jets and prove why they just got paid.

Its been 18 games. That is plenty of time to find his game. If he had not sat out and had these stats through the first 18 games of the season people would be justifiably criticizing him. 1 goal and 2 assists through 18 games, ANY 18 games, by a player of Nylanders status is unacceptable.

Weise not practicing with the team leads me to believe he wasn't just waived to test waters or to give them some kind of team flexibility. If I had to guess he probably had a sit down with someone to discuss his future with the Flyers and they probably told him point blank he has no future here. Which would also explain NoPa's comments. Out of respect the team is most likely trying their best to find a situation for him to continue his career in the NHL, most likely will be bought out in the offseason.

I mean if the team tells you they don't see a place for you here, why would you practice with them. Just my best guess.

I would agree that it's something along those lines. Please don't buy him out though. I'll be unhappy with that choice. No buyouts unless the cap space is absolutely needed.

Agreed 100%. Nothing that is happening with Nylander is surprising, it was exactly what I saw happening when the hold out started, but Leafs fans kept saying no no he will come in and be a superstar right away. All you have to do is look at the history of players who hold out, most of them the same thing happens (of course there are exceptions for everything).

This is why I want nothing to do with Nylander, it would be a gigantic mistake for them to trade any valuable assets for him. I hope it never happens.

I understand how they work. I don't understand why he'd feel he needs to be there. If they didn't reassign him then they're kind of Richarding him around.

Not the ideal situation to add an extra year paying Weise, but like I said the team could do that out of respect for the player. Yes, he may not be good or fans may hate him, but I'm sure he is a good guy. Buying him out gives him at least one year of finding a new team to prove him self.

When he was waived in October it was a completely different situation that it is now. Then you add in first time he was waived was under different management. Fletcher doesn't care if he was waived earlier, he is making decisions for what he wants now.

Far as I am concerned he is officially with the team on the roster, but no longer a part of them.
