Scottie - I was referring to Anton Forsberg, who some have said was ruined last year. BTW - I wasn't taking a shot at you with the previous post. - mohel
Roger! They really need to fix the internet to capture context and emotion. Hopefully Forsberg isn’t ruined. I’d like to see him up here at some point. |

If JC is pissed about Joki giving up the first goal ... it was his own f****** fault for playing him on his off side, which was the reason he messed up. - I Am The Breadman
He wasn't, though. He ended up there because his partner, Gustafsson(IIRC) was doing rover things. Jokesonyou was the last man back. |

Saad-Toews-Cat
Strome-Anisimov-Kane
Caggiula-Kampf-Kahun
Hayden-Kruger-Perlini/Kunitz
Keith-Joki
Gustafson-Murphy
Dahlstrom-Seabs
That’s what I’d go with. Let Murphy stay home to cover for Gus and keep Dahlstrom-Seabs sheltered against bottom lines. - EnzoD
The fact you even mentioned Kunitz negates anything mentioned. |

I think the best fan reaction is after the GWG in Boston by Bolland. The fan behind the net with his hands on his head thinking WTF just happened. Priceless!!! |

A few fun facts from Scott Powers’ current Athletic article.
For all you Q haters, Hossa says Q is the favorite coach he played for.
Hawks are 9-4-3 vs. the Central
Hawks are 1-10-3 against the Pacific |

You could say the same for a handful of other guys on this roster that wouldn’t be on 90% of NHL rosters. Just working with the “playoff caliber roster” Stanley Bowman has assembled.
Sharks vs Bolts Stanley Cup Preview

Gus had the puck, drove to the offensive zone, went to shoot, was hooked, fell down, and complained about it. Joki had to defend the guy breaking on his off-side, swinging his stick (a little bit stationary, I won't lie) and got beat, then Delia got beat. I think the hawks were changing by the time Gus lost the puck. |

Hawks are good at strange endings - add in the 17 seconds in Boston - latest in regulation time that a Cup winning goal was ever scored. |

He also said the Blackhawks floated Kunitz, Kruger, and Martinsen as available for trade. Guess Kunitz agreed to waive? Also explains him slotting in more frequently. |

The NHL starting that year put the goal judges upstairs in the press box so more tickets could be sold. They are supposed to put the red light on when the referee points at the net to signify a goal was scored but neither ref saw it. The thing all fans wait for every year is a winning goal in the finals. But in this case it was the most anti-climatic thing I ever saw. The fan video in Philly almost makes up for it. |

Too true
And for those of us questioning Joki's use, here's what JC had to say in Powers' article:
Colliton said Saturday it wasn’t worth reading too much into Jokiharju’s ice time.
“I’m not sure the numbers exactly like how much it’s down,” Colliton said. “But I think as a 19-year-old, we’re pleased with his progression. I think it’s not going to happen overnight where he becomes a dominant player at this level. There’s going to be ups and downs, and I think that’s part of the journey as a young player. You got to go through some adversity, and it’s not going to be perfect and that’s fine. It’s up to us to give us to give him the feedback he needs to continue to improve and up to him to work as hard as he can.”
Considering where the season is going, Colliton was asked whether this season could turn into a developmental one and Jokiharju could see 20-plus minutes and time on all special teams.
“There could be, for sure,” Colliton said. “But there’s other guys we’re trying to develop too. I’m trying to get (Slater) Koekkoek in, Forsling when he comes back. So it’s the total picture.” |

Lazerus:
A lot of the defensive question marks on the roster can be easily solved by pairing up Murphy and Seabrook. Joel Quenneville raised some eyebrows — including Murphy’s — last season by putting him on the left side for the first time in his career and pairing him with Seabrook. But it worked. Murphy and Seabrook played more than 300 5-on-5 minutes together last year and had excellent numbers. They out-attempted opponents handily (53.55 percent Corsi), out-chanced opponents 168-132, and outscored opponents 15-14. And it wasn’t a sheltered pairing, either — only 44 percent of their faceoffs were in the offensive zone.
Colliton has been reluctant to break up the Carl Dahlstrom-Murphy pairing, but after a terrific start, they’ve come down to earth during the five-game losing streak, giving up 14 high-danger scoring chances while generating just three of their own (and getting outscored 4-1). Murphy-Seabrook is the way to go.
Bonus: By moving Murphy to the left side, where he’s proven capable, it would allow Jokiharju to go back to the right side and Gustafsson to stay on the right side, where he’s been most successful this season. It’s a win-win. |

Not to absolve Joki at all on that play because he did not play it well at all. But it was a shot at Gustafsson and his rover tendencies. If he had shot the puck quicker, the guy wouldn't have been able to get back. Not to mention he might have been in better position to play defense. crazy, i know |

Gus marches to his own drummer out there. I just hope the drummer leads that idiot out of town - very soon. Can't win in the NHL with a player like him. |

It looks like Michael Leighton goes over and lifts up the net off the moorings while the ref is on his knee looking for the puck. Maybe Leighton picked up the puck and gave it to Kaner later? |

The only thing wrong with the explanation is that they accepted Johanson’s plea that he didn’t intentionally get Scheifele’s head.
Looked pretty intentional to me.
Two games is absurd. - StLBravesFan
In 100 percent agreement with you on this. If you had hit someone with a baseball bat or piece of lumber somewhere else that a hockey rink, you’d probably be arrested and charged with assault.

The mental gymnastics Hawks fans go thru to beat the dead horse. Not you
Bottom line, Joki got turnstiled 1 on 1. What Gus did or did not do had no effect on that.
But hey...next we will hear a story of how Gus ate most of Jokis breakfast and that is why he was outmuscled on the 2nd goal. |
