And yet we will get 100 posts from now until Tuesday from Hawk fans wondering why he is not playing 27 minutes a game. NO doubt the kid has great potential, but lets not act like he has more than his fair share of struggles on the ice. - TrueGrit
How about just some minutes, but none?

Pretty sure there was no way the Pats would shut them out. The fact that they did for a half is impressive. Mahomes was running for his life in the first half. If they can protect him like they did on that drive... - HawkintheD
I knew they'd get on the board. Protection and confidence, he's fired up. I just hope the experience of the pats is a greater playing factor. |

Powers:
How good was Jokiharju early in the season? Joel Quenneville likely knew he was coaching for his job, and he still had faith in Jokiharju to put him on the top pairing with Keith and play Jokiharju 20-plus minutes on most nights. Jokiharju and Keith thrived as a pairing and remain the Blackhawks’ second-best pairing this season with a 53.32 Corsi percentage (min. 50 minutes), according to Corsica. The best pairing happens to be Jokiharju and Erik Gustafsson with a 54.46 Corsi percentage. - Mr Ricochet
So, then play Keith & Joki or Gus and Joki. How the f*ck is he going to develop if he isn’t playing? |

Absolutely - and - maybe - he needed another year in Oregon, or sometime in Rockfish - instead of trying to strengthen his body and find his compete in the Show.
No knock on the Finn - he’s only 19 - how many 19 year olds are ready physically and otherwise to play National League hockey? |

He is playing 2 or 3 out of every 3 or 4 games.
He physically is getting beat. He will get his time. For him practicing and watching helps him learn about the league and opponents.
I know Scottak is mad because he bought tickets for San Jose All star game and his custom Joki all star jersey. |

There’s no reason Slater Koekook should be playing over Jokiharju. He’s another 6/7D or AHLer. |

Because he’s 19 you d*p sh*t. Most kids his age are chasing Mary Jane Rotten Crotch around campus, Joki is learning how to be a professional defenseman in the NHL. And his results so far have been more 5han encouraging. Highest Corsi of all Hawk defenseman, and he’s made everyone else he’s played with better.
But the brilliant JC gives ice time to Koo Koo, who’s already failed in one city. And I love Seabrook and what he’s done for the Hawks, but he should be in the press box rather than Joki.
Except JC doesn’t have the balls, or the gravitas, to sit Seabrook. |

I really do not know what to say, it has been cited above about his lack of physical maturity and the grind of his first NHL season. He is being managed correctly.
I do not disagree that Seabrook should sit more. Gravitas definitely is a country club word, so yeah, maybe he does not have any.

Brady is one of the few that still does the QB sneak, but no...... maybe a field goal.
Chiefs have been great this half. |

Hard to tell if he touched that at all or not. Looked like his finger might have grazed it while the ball was on the ground...maybe. |

There’s no reason Slater Koekook should be playing over Jokiharju. He’s another 6/7D or AHLer. - EnzoD
There is that thing about development and let us see what WE can get out of this kid. Someone has to sit. Coaches tend to like experience although I am always tempted to let kids play and take their lumps. I think the main thing here is that whomever the prospect dresses for each game, a team needs good coaching and a player needs reinforcements and confidance
Amazing or not what B Trotz does for a team
To St Louis Braves point:
Yes if not physically ready then the player is going to suffer. Any talented kid looks good when the play is not physical. And the AHL is plenty physical too. Jokiharju needs to gain strength and willingness to use it at least to some degree. Until this happens, he is limited in development
You can practice drills and actually become more an automatic good read and react player but if you are controlled by scared of physicality, then you indeed become a liability. Better be a star if you are scared. Because you aren't going to be challenged and you cannot win often enough.
Additionally; the above being said
How the heck is Oesterle getting so much TOI
Does enough things well, or does one thing well and that is ability to move the puck
At least my guess. He has more TOI slightly late in game vs Toronto today than OEL |
