I did listen to his interview on a pod cast this week(recorded on Monday) when he made a point of mentioning his diminished role since Gordon took over.

Combine that with Jones comments about him shutting down "If hes not getting his ice time" and I suspect 2 things:

1. He informally demanded a trade. Explains the waivers.
2. Hes become a pain in the ass and is female doging about his role on the team.

That was in reference to Voracek, not Weise. Only thing said about Weise was "Weise gotta go".

Value....that's it.
- Glak18

I get that but he is a solid veteran dman. unless you don't think you can re-sign him after next year I would keep him

I dont think that comment was about Voracek considering he gets a fair amount of ice time consistently but there is no way of knowing who it was meant for.

Well one, it was JJ who said it and he specifically said "He quits, Voracek just shuts down when he isn't getting the ice time".

Well it has more to do with value than whether you want to trade them. Normally when you don't want something then no one else does either. Gudas just happens to fit the perfect fit for a playoff team...1 year left on a reasonable deal, playing well and would be easy to slide into the top 6 for a lot of teams, plus he is RH.

If the Flyers choice to keep him then that is fine, eventually they have to figure out soon if he is part of the plans after next year. If he isn't then his value will never be higher.

Going back to your original thought though, I doubt he demanded a trade or complained about ice time, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was unhappy about his name getting thrown out like that.

The most telling thing to me was the Patrick comments. The fact he was upset leads me to believe there were conversations and not just based off a a pretty common transaction on paper.

I don't know, feels like any other year with so many names thrown around, but like previous years most never happen.
- Glak18

I think in a year like this with tampa tearing through everyone. Can I make ourselves good enough to best them in 7 or do I sell non core pieces? Most will answer sell.

Maybe they’ve just simply had enough of a 4th liner who was unwilling to accept his role.
- Just5

So keep him as a healthy scratch.

My guesses are:

Weise is moved within the next couple of days.

Simmonds is moved at some point during the last 2 weeks leading up to the deadline

One, or perhaps even 2, of Raffl, Gudas or maybe even Folin is dealt at the deadline

I also think its possible, unlikely, but possible, that if either Elliott or Neuvirth can return and stay healthy for at least a week prior to the deadline, that one is moved with 50% retention on deadline day to a contender just looking to add goaltending depth for their playoff run.

I hope you're right about Weise but I have doubts that Weise will be that easy to trade.

Bill, Anyone

Any news about Morin? All I’ve heard so far was Jan or Feb return. Was wondering if he’s skating? With the team? Shut down for the year? Etc.
Thanks in advance!

I don't get why people want to trade Gudas.
- nastyflyergirl

It really isn’t hard to understand. Gudas has value and if he doesn’t factor into the future plans, you trade him. Simple game of numbers going forward. First, I don’t see him as Provy’s partner 5 on 5. Second, do you want to give Morin a shot? Should Myers remain in the AHL next season? You want to trade Ghost? Sanheim? Or are you a Hägg hater?

Throwing out a young defense corps without veteran support is a bad recipe. The value that Gudas has in a trade is the same value for keeping him.

I think they are just going by why would you want to trade your defenseman who is playing the best, most consistent hockey this year. Other teams need them, but so do the Flyers...so why trade someone you will need too.

Again the trade off is his value right now and what you get for him. If the trade off is too good to pass up then you trade him, if not you don't trade him for the sake of trading.

Had been skating for weeks. Likely to get cleared to play in mid or late Feb. Will do a two-week conditioning stint with Phantoms then join Flyers.

They aren't even letting his stink out of his house.
In reading about him though, it disturbed me a bit that NP has had W as one of the greatest teammates to ever come down the pike.
I think W's stink has been what's going wrong with NP.

I know only 1 more game until the week off, but still find it odd that they are still going in to Montreal with 11 forwards (I am not counting Lehtera even if he plays) and 7 defensemen.

So are you saying that because Weise hasn't played good on the ice he still can't be a good teammate, good friend or good person?

the whole situation is just odd. I don't think you tell a guy to not come to practice and to not travel with the team unless something happened.

I agree and I am just curious what just happened, but will probably never know the real story.
