Ela title blog is hilarious. One point from dead last

Alright. Trade them all for Christ’s sake. Nearly dead last in the league. Dead ducking last. Time for the core to have it shoved up their ass. Move Simmonds. Move Jake. Listen on giroux

No way I'm trading for Muzzin. Ghost or Sanheim, 1st and a top prospect? Ha, please.

And the only thing that was said was "Weise gotta go". We say that every day here...

Maybe that can be taken different ways. Hustle up or poor bladder control.

You bring up a valid point...Jonesy said "Weise...he's gotta go". There has been multiple times in my life I have referred to "Weise" as taking a "Number 2". Obviously Jonesy just needed to use the restroom.

No, we aren’t talking about trading for Muzzin. No fuzzy Muzzin.

Flyers have plenty of cap space, they could trade for the most expensive player and still have room. Dumping his salary is not needed, just getting rid of him is the bigger need.

Again even if the plan was to have Weise part of any trade...a dump, a swap or a bigger deal then this could all be done with Weise still practicing with the team.

- Glak18

A dump doesnt always mean it's for salary reasons. Sometimes it could be trying for a change in culture

That's fair, but for Weise to be moved then it has to be him included with something of value. We aren't talking about Lucic here, Weise's cap hit is nothing compared to others. Even worst case scenario Weise is still on the team as a depth forward or buried his cap hit isn't enough to give up an asset for nothing.

I almost feel like any possibility of trading Weise is going to involve giving another team something they want as payment for taking Weise.

Something along the lines of, we'll take Weise, you retain 50% and give us a 2nd round pick. We'll give you this middling prospect in return.

Just looked at the standings...

Chicago
LA
Philly

Imagine if Chicago finished last and Philly stole that #1. Now that would be sweet revenge.

Nope, it can’t be for nothing if we are sending an asset with him. It just might be less..in addition we will have gained cap space, a contract and roster spot.

That would be the only way a team would take Weise. Now depending on what is actually going on with Weise that may still not be enough to entice a team.

Well that would be idiotic to do that. I would buy him out before I give away ANY pick

Personally I would too. I know MJL is against it, but you have to wait for the offseason before that can happen.

Well any valuable pick such as a 4th round and higher. I agree with that and I despise buyouts and want the team to avoid them.

The Weise post-waiver thing is weird. I don’t know what the story really is. I had him penciled in as the 14 forward for next season. Cap-wise, he does seem spendy for that role. Fletcher is House-cleaning.

new GM and most likely new coach coming next season it will only get easier to attract a top coach if the roster has a ton of flexibility

If Weise truly is unhappy with his role, what team in the league is going to give him more TOI? If he can't find time in one of the worst teams in the league, he's not finding it anywhere.

But does his contract make sense for any of them?

EDM is trying to shed salary. Can't see them having any interest in Weise. Hawks cap can't have them taking on much more money either and Weise is not spending wisely imo.

Which means salary comes back and\or we are retaining cap. It is for 1 year so its not a huge issue. The trades dont even have to be with us. They can likely dump salary elsewhere. They certainly dont need as many Dmen as they have. I think they have 21 mill tied up in Dmen maybe more. Plus Talbot at 4 mill.

Its Chia. We can go by logic. He will find a way to make that team worse.

Seems to me like you just pulled teams off the top of your head. Why can he play and get more ice time with them and not with the Flyers? What's different?

Guess NAK won't be coming up any time soon:

Bad news today: Nicolas Aube-Kubel has an injury from yesterday's game and is expected out of the lineup for the foreseeable future, perhaps for an extended time-frame. No specific timeline has been set. But we won't be seeing him for a little while.
